Hi there :). I have my first gynocologist appointment in a week and am not sure what to expect. My gp has referred me as she suspects i could have endometriosis. I have had the mirena coil inserted couple of weeks ago (tmi warning) but have been bleeding nearly a week and its pretty heavy. Seems to slow for a bit then go heavy again. I have read that it could be like this for at least 3 months :(. Would i need to cancel my appointment or can i still be seen? I have waited over 8 years for a diagnosis so really dont want to cancel. Also does anyone have any advice on whats to be expected at ny first appointment please? TIA XXX
First gyno appointment. : Hi there :). I... - Endometriosis UK
First gyno appointment.
At my first appointment they asked questions, had a feel of my stomach and an internal examination then talked me through my options. I definitely wouldn't cancel! Good luck for your appointment xx
My GP referred me to have bloods, ultrasound and to see gynae. Bloods came back saying I was anemic, so I'm on iron tablets now from prescription. I'm guessing that's from my heavy periods.
Ultrasound lady was amazing, she said everything is 'sticky' and this is something she sees with ladies with endo.
I then have gynae app. He was quite rude and brash but I think that's quite common...!! He questioned me a lot of my symptoms, then did an internal, felt my abdomen.
Took me back into the room and said he suspects endo too, but would like to perform a laparoscopy with an endo specialist with him. If they find anything they will remove. He also wants to fit a mirena coil after the lap... which I'm unsure about!! Xx
