hi I was just wondering if anyone with Endo has trouble going the toilet, I can sometimes go two weeks to a month without going, which causes more pain. The hosp gave me a home irregation kit which helps sometimes, was just wondering if anyone else goes through the same thing? Xxxxxx

Hi, yes I have issues with going to the toilet it's as if my whole abdomen swells and I can't go the pain is immense. I have found that is I eat one piece of wholemeal seeded bread then I am more regular and less painful but equally when I really struggle I use glycerin suppositories or anusol for a slower result is next day. Does make my bowels work though so all's good.

I feel you though soooo painful.

Hi

I'm sorry to hear you're having such troubles going to the toilet. My troubles do not seem as extreme as yours but I definitely have problems caused by my endo.

There are times where I am constipated and have to strain to go, but other times it's quite loose. It can be quite painful when I need to go and I have to sit in funny positions. Sorry for tmi. I have constantly got a round swollen belly and my digestive system feels quite sluggish.

What I have started doing is taking a good probiotic and l-glutamine supplement (not for endo, but for digestive issues) and this so far is helping. I am going more regularly and it's not as painful to go.

This may not work for you, but thought I would share. Hope this helps :)

Hi, I know how painful this can be. It's also really not good for you to be so constipated. I'd talk to your GP about it.

I used to have lots of problems with constipation, which I think was mostly endo affecting my bowel. I now take a regular laxative and it's really helped. My own research suggested that the important thing is to use one of the osmotic ones (e.g. lactose, movicol) rather than senna, if you are taking them long term. You don't want to mess up the gut rhythm, just make it easier to pass. Personally I've ended up with movicol, because lactose makes me rather windy.

I hope you get it sorted out.

O, dear. It does sound bad.

The other things I do are,

Try to have 7 - 10 portions of fresh fruit and veg a day

Whole meal bread, brown rice, etc.

Two large glasses of cold water in waking up

A tspn of ground golden linseed at breakfast

Another of oatbran

All these help, especially the water. It's an old Indian method of treating chronic constipation.

Endo is really such a horrible disease.

Take care

I've had the same issue in the past. I now take Laxido when I need to, but the biggest change for me has come from having bran flakes for breakfast (I never used to eat breakfast).

Bran flakes? To be honest I eat them when I'm still half asleep...I'll try to pay attention tomorrow and report back.

I'm having awful bowel problems, I can't pass anything solid and the only way I can go at all is to have 4-6 drinks of movicol for a couple of days and then I just pass loads of liquid.

It's got to the stage where you can see and feel a bulge on the left side of my stomach before I go.

Increase your daily fibre and water intake, and eat lots (at least a couple of servings each day) of the P fruits- pears, plums, peaches, prunes.
