I had my laparascopy a few weeks ago and my consultant told me I need to have surgery for stage 3 with a colorectal surgeon in situ, due to the location of my Endo. I've a large mass stuck on my bowel, my rectum and pouch of Douglas. My consultant gynaecologist was through BMI choose & book service so I'm an NHS patient, however, because it's BMI he can't refer me. I go back to my GP who refers me to colorectal surgeon. He writes a very brief letter stating this isn't the method of treatment I should have. After many phone calls I finally find out what he meant. He thinks I need to be referred to an Endo centre. Fantastic I think, finally I'm getting somewhere. So, my GP is going to write to my local BSGE centre, finally some progress!
Does anyone know how long this referral process takes? I've read on here some women have found their gynea consultant needs to refer, and sometime they can't guarantee to be treated by them? I'm in constant pain and always have problems with my bowels, I've waited so long for this un-diagnosed, now it is diagnosed I just want it to be treated.
Thanks for reading

Hi,i am pleased you have been told you need a bsge center. I am at one, my gp referred me to the hospital and i had an ultrasound with a dr in gen gynea but he scans all the endo ladies for the endo consultants so he re diagnosed me, that appt took 17 weeks, then i got an appt with the endo team and that took 18 weeks, they are very busy. It was a long road but worth it.
I was referred from BMI Bath to a BSGE clinic in Bristol about a month ago. I was copied in to a letter from BMI to BSGE but when I phoned them they said the letter had come from my GP, it was all very confusing! But I've been told 3 weeks since they received the letter I should get an appointment but god knows when that'll be, I'm wondering if I'll even have the lap this side of Christmas. Good luck and I hope yours comes soon x
Thanks ladies, I'm going to my BMI consultant tomorrow so I will ask if he can do the referral as well, that way, even if they don't accept the GP one they'll have something else to work from. I'm assuming he can send the images/his findings as well.
Good ideal loulourice1982 about calling for cancellations. Out of interest, what was your experience like with BSGE centre in comparison to general gynae?
