Hysteroscopy

I had a hysteroscopy and marina fitted last week and I must say that was the most horrific pain I've experienced. I was told it doesn't hurt but I was shaking so bad after from trying not to scream the place down. Has anybody else had This? I'm usually fine during examinations and smears but this was excruciating.

Were you awake throughout? The last time I had my Mirena changed they did it without any anaesthetic and it was horrible! I was also very wobbly afterwards. I was so glad my partner was with me.

My first thought was, they'd never ask men to have something like that done without anaesthetic.

Hope you are feeling better now.

I was awake, my gyn told me I was going under but he was away when I had to have it done. If they ever have to do that again I am 100% not doing it awake. X

Hi. I've experienced very severe pain after having the mirena fitted. It's normal and goes away. If you have any doubts and you are worried something wrong talk to your gp. I went back to the place where i had it fitted because i could barely breathe from pain. If you've not had children then it make take a while for your womb to get used to it since it's not used to something being there so it may treat a mirena like a foreign body. It maybe contracting to try to get rid of it. It will settle down on its own. You can take some painkillers, although i took some codeine and even that did nothing. Just wait it out, it should get better.Feel better soon. x

The marina was uncomfortable but nothing compared to what they just did to me. The actual hysteroscopy was horrendous. X
