IBS related to Endo?

Hi everyone, I've just been to see my GP as I'm really suffering. I'm due to have my 6th Zoladex injection in 2 weeks time - then planning a lap... however since having my 5th injection I feel like it completely stopped working, I take HRT along side it and even those just don't seem to be working how they were. Bearing in mind I really have found relief from the injections and HRT until now... anyway so went to my doctor to see if there is anything he can do before I'm back at the hospital as I simply can't go on like this I'm crippled with pain, I had a complete breakdown at work this morning!! So he has suggested it could be the endo or could be IBS!! This has not been mentioned before, so now I have been presecribed Mintec capsules and Mebeverine to try in the meantime aswell as my usual concoction of tramadol and other pain killers... has anyone else had this? Are the two linked? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Hi :) I have endo along with IBS. Basically my course of action with my physicians has been to take medication for my IBS to keep it calm so it doesn't contribute to extra pain in my abdomen. I was recently prescribed a medication for bowel spasticity that I take 4x/day and it has significantly reduced some IBS issues. While I still have endo pain, it was really, really helpful for me to be able to assess and know which pain was IBS related and what is endo related. I also have gone completely gluten and dairy free which also significantly helped to reduce flair ups. Hope this helps a little, stay strong :)

Most women with endo are misdiagnosed with IBS when in fact it endo. I had terrible "IBS" for years, I tried lots of medication and diet changes but still suffered. Then I was diagnosed with severe stage 4 endo, with rectovaginal endo that was on my bowel and my uterus was stuck to it. Since excision of endo was done by a BSGE surgeon I have had no IBS system since.

Thank you Amshell, so it could just be my endo, it's worth mentioning all of this at my next appointment with the consultant, I think I need to push for a lap just to be certain! I'm convinced it has been been endo on the bowel for some time now but no doctor seems to even suggest it.... so fed up feel like I go round in circles!

I had exactly the same Amshell. Unfortunately I still have some endo left behind in my bowel after the op. Can I ask where you went for surgery? My cousin is waiting to be diagnosed and is looking for recommendations of surgeons that specialise in excision treatment.

TIA x

I'm sorry you are still suffering. Mine was done by Natalia Price in Oxford, she is a BSGE accredited surgeon. If you have a look here bsge.org.uk/centre/ there is a list of BSGE centres.
