Diagnosis question?!

Hi all,

Yesterday I was diagnosed with endometriosis after 12 years of horrible pains that only got worse over the time.

In one breath I'm glad no one else can say the pain is all made up or, it's just period pain everyone gets it, but also now worried for the future. It's kind of a bittersweet moment 😪.

They were able to remove the endo from my bladder, pouch of Douglas, ligaments, pelvic walls and removed adhesions but the surgeon said that she had sent some of it off for biopsy.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has had theirs sent of for biopsy and what they could possibly be looking for?

Xx

Any time they remove any sort of growth it will be sent for biopsy. It is perfectly normal. Essentially it is a very cheap test that allows them to be sure there is nothing more nasty there, that would be hard and costly to diagnose any other way.

Was just about to say the same as NW248. I had a lump removed and some chocolate cysts all sent off for biopsy and all perfectly normal. It's always at the back of your mind until you get the word that everything g is fine but do try not to worry.

It's disgraceful that it takes so long to get a diagnosis. I was 25 years of being told it was in my head or just bad period pains. I believe that 12-15 years is the average.

Fingers crossed that you have a lot less pain after your recovery from surgery. Xx

Thank you! Yeah don't really want to worry about anything else as well as recovering.

I've always had a very good relationship with my GP until I started pushing for a solution as my period pains plus all the other symptoms were getting soo bad, I've got family history of endometriosis as well so I thought he would be more understanding but he just fobbed me off.

Oh my goodness I'm so sorry it's taken so long for them to diagnose you, I hope you are not in too much pain still?

Thank you for your kind comforting words. I'm still a bit sore not sure what pains from what as I had a coil fitted as well but hopefully will recover soon xx

Hii Lindle,

I had a look in the discharge papers and it just says 'round ligaments', they're not very detailed. She did say to me in recovery it was stage 3 but I'm unsure of what qualifies for what stage. I've received my follow up appointment for August so I'll be asking a lot of questions then to find out what my next steps are x
