Has anyone found alternative pain relief effective - physio, massage, yoga, exercise etc.

I'm looking into how I can help manage my daily pain (undiagnosed lower abdomen/pelvic pain and other related symptoms inc. reduced mobility due to discomfort). Has anyone found anything that actually works?

Any kind of physiotherapy, massage (tissue, head, reiki, reflexology etc), gentle yoga classes or strengthening exercises? Also any form of relaxation?

If you've found something that works/helps please reply with info. Thanks

I've since spoken to physio department at hospital, they don't think it would help me at this time. I'm waiting to hear back from a yoga centre to see if they offer a class which may be suitable, if so I'll discuss the info with my GP before trying anything for fear of making things worse.

Yoga has been a life saver! Gentle yoga practise, not a yoga "workout". Also have really enjoyed light massage, haven't tried reflexology but really want to! And on really bad days I try alternating heat/cold on my lower back plus gentle stretching and walking as much as I can stand.

I'm wondering this too as I think most exercise is all about core strength which we want to avoid really I've asked a yoga teacher friend to find out what she can and get back to me. I've done like 10 years of dynamic yoga and really missing it since all the pain started 18 months ago. it difficult as feel now like any movement even sitting or standing uncomfortable starting to feel really weak but have been wondering if I did small amount per day maybe yoga stretches and build it up would be helpful ???

As with periods years ago period the pain got alot better the more I did if I just sat still it got worse .... is it the same with adenomyosis / endo ????

I have post ablation syndrome also now though unfortunately and cant find much out about it?

I've been doing physiotherpy since August, my first location wasn't as helpful since she was rough.

Although others say it wouldn't help them I have to disagree, with endometriosis you develop an overactive pelvic floor because your in pain all the time so it's used to being tensed up. This can make your pain worse since it pushes on nerves and allows for you to urinate and have work movements. A overactive pelvic floor triggers the puendal nerve specifically, that can screw up anything from sexual arousla to pain with sitting. I had pain with sitting and also lack of sensation in my vagina except for deep penetration that hurts and still does but that's due to adhesions and cysts in most cases. But after physio I went from "wait there's a finger in there?" To actually being able to feel something there and feel pleasure.

Also a physiotheprist can release adhesions from surgery which can cause pain, that's deep tissue release. Deep tissue release does actually release organs because of it did your bowels would break apart it however loosens the fascia and ligaments so that they can move which adhesions prevent them from doing.

Core strengthening is a no no, since it also strengthens an overactive pelvic floor which screws everything up.

Also over time with chronic pain your nerves become more sensitive to pain, your physiotheprist can help you learn to release these nerves or manage them. This also connects to the theory of phantom pain where persons leg is cut off but they can still feel it.

As for yoga start easy, hold poses for 15 seconds then build up the time 5 seconds each, overtime you can add more stretches.
