Has anyone else had a GnRH antagonist injection before with add back HRT to treat severe endo? how did it go? I'll be on it for 6 months and I get my 1st injection tomorrow, a bit nervous because I'm chronically ill with many other conditions and side effects will make life even harder 😬

Hi. Yes I had Zoladex injections for six months. I didn't have add back HRT. I had side effects such as flushes and joint pains however I was free of pelvic pain. I decided to go ahead with a hysterectomy and oopherectomy. It was then that they discovered severe endo with adhesions . So it was a strange diagnostic tool for me.

Hi, I had Zoladex with HRT to reduce adhesions prior to an op - the injections themselves weren't painful at all. I had an initial heavy period after the first injection which I wasn't expecting as no one had warned me, but after that my endo symptoms gradually stopped completely which was such a relief! My joints seemed a little bit stiffer than usual but I didn't notice any other side effects. I tried to up my calcium intake and reduce alcohol consumption while I was on the injections. The only hot flushes I had were after I had my laparoscopy (at the end of the 6 months) and the HRT had finished - I think the effects of the implants lasted a while longer. I hope it all goes well for you.

I had 5 months of it earlier this year - the first month is tough as you get a hormone surge before things settle down so be prepared for bleeding/pain, but after that things should settle. I did have some joint pain mainly in my wrists during the first few weeks but that did go. I dropped 2 cup sizes as my breasts shrank and I suffered with some hair loss. Sadly it didn't stop my periods and I only managed 5 injections before it was stopped but I did get quite a few weeks pain free. I didn't gain any weight and generally had more energy and felt OK on them. Due to go back on it soon after 5 months on cerazette (which in comparison has been hideous).

Best of luck with it.
