Conceiving after laparotomy

Wondered if anybody advice on ease of conceiving/ when to try after laparotomy and laparoscopy for endometriosis.

Had both 4 weeks ago, and after a rocky start, am feeling good again. My incision was pretty large due to awkward endo stuck in old c-section scar (nearly hip to hip cut) but they are confident they removed it all, and my pain is gone.

Prior to this, i have not been on birth control for 5 years ,since birth of youngest child, and have just been told that I have unexplained infertility. In fairness my GP is useless as was my previous consultant, and neither has bothered to investigate why I have not conceived in 5 years.

I would love to have another child.

Did they tell you about any blockages of the Fallopian tubes or problems with your ovaries (fusing).

Also ask about trying progesterone when you do convince b/c in ladies with endo we tend to have estrogen dominance which doesn't provide a good place for the baby to grow.

Thank you for your reply. 😀 I had a laparoscopy in 2014 where they flushed the tubes and found no blockage. It was then that they stated, 'unexplained infertility.'

However, my endometriosis was not discovered until February of this year after an MRI scan due to its awkward location. The surgeon who operated said that it shouldn't have affected my fertility, but it strikes me as strange that the struggle to conceive begAn at the Sam's time as the pain, later found out to be endo.

It may be wishful thinking on my part, but hope that now it has been removed, I can go on to conceive as easily as I did with other children, before I developed the dreaded e word!

I was the same way. My first endo worsened after my first child. When she was 5, I had a laparoscopy done and then found I became fertile again. I am now going on 2 years post-lap and am pregnant with my third child.

Thankyou for your replies! I hadn't seen them as have only just logged in again after some time!

Unfortunately I've just had another laparotomy after more endo was discovered. I hadn't had any joy in conceiving in the year since the last one, although again, nobody seems to want to discuss my fertility issues. My focus now is trying to recover and keeping fingers crossed that this time they got it all out!
