Removal of left ovary, Fallopian tube and uterus

I have been diagnosed with severe endometriosis (two endometriomas and two endometriotic nodules) with it beginning to affect my bowel, and adenymosis. I've had two laps - one as recently as February and another about 10 years ago. My consultant, who has come highly recommended by some users here via private messaging, has suggested the removal of my left ovary, left Fallopian tube (which the cysts surround) and my uterus. I have two questions:

- What is the estimated recovery time from such a procedure?

- I know the upsides of keeping my one ovary but what are the downsides, if any?

Your advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Best,

Stacy

Why don't you email the questions to the consultant's PA. I found I would get a response within a few hours. That saves you speculating for a long time.

Hope it goes well for you.

Hi Stacy, they generally say 6-8 but everyone is different, for me it took closer to 12 weeks.

The downside of leaving one ovary is that after a hysterectomy ovaries tend to fail after about five years anyway.
