Pain meds, what else is there?

I've tried paracetamol, Ibruprofen, mefenamic acid, naproxen, Solpadol, Tramadol, diplofenic. Nothing works in any combo or if it does it gives up before I'm allowed another dose.

What else can I take!

Hi Kel, my doc advised me to take buscopan when I get my period to help with the cramps. Ive also been taking evening primrose oil every day its supposed to help with all PMS symptoms. Ive also been drinking back to back cups off Raspberry leaf tea. I hope you get some relief soon. In regards to the hard stuff you've got all basis covered with anti inflammatory and opiates, though in addition to what you listed I also take diazepam x

I've been given 30/500mg co-codamol, amitriptyline, gabapentin which work a bit to take the edge of but still feel the constant pelvic pain xxx

Hmmmm... well my doctor put me on 400 mg of Celebrex on the first day as a single dose and 200 mg 2x daily thereafter. Also I have been using evening primrose oil for awhile now. Other than that they sometimes do opiate pain meds (but they are highly addictive and aren't easy on the stomach. If the pain was extreme (when I was in tears in pain) they placed me on one of these Percocet, Vicodin and OxyContin.

Also,

I have endometriosis and used to be bedridden for multiple days a moth. It was miserable I was hot and cold, didn't know if I wanted to sit or stand. During these times I would usually use my heating pad often. I did end up getting an IUD (Skyla- 3year birth control for women who haven't had kids) and it completely changed my life. I call it the magical solution. I tried other birth control and this was the only thing that really gave me my life back !

I'm the same at the mo. If I move the pain gets worse. Can't heat my wheat bag up because I'm alone and can't move. I'm trying to conceive so can't use birth control to help myself.

I would strongly recommend talking to your doctor then, pain medications and anti inflammatories might harm the baby when first being conceived.

They are aware that I'm trying to conceive. I only get this level of pain on the first day of my period and I do a test the day before to be sure I'm not pregnant.

Whoops my bad. Sorry. Before I was on my IUD I was taking some medications daily, but everyone's pain is different

Hi kel,

You can take tab.Arcoxia(COX-2) once a day, it works well for some people and the next option is Diclofenac sodium 75mg(sustained release). This can keep you free for a longer duration but it begins to work after few hours.

With all such painkillers, bear in mind you might get ulcer in your stomach.Better to take some PPI along with these analgesics to avoid another unwanted pain!

Hope this helps.

Just feel like they keep giving me stuff to try and nothing does. I'm in so much pain I just want it to stop! It's been 14 hours of excruciating pain.

Morohine my dear, the only thing that helped me. Tried all the others to no effect, like yourself. I have also started acupuncture on nhs and been referred to a pain management team , good luck.

Does morphine cause any side effects?

It can do , it does depend on the person. It can make you drowsy, feel sick and headaches and constipation. Hope that helps

I'm waiting for my first lap - hopefully this summer but I'm on Zapain (codeine and paracetomal) and when it's really bad I have oramorph too - which kills the pain then makes me sleep, it's the only way I can get by and atleast when I'm asleep I'm out of pain for longer
