Un-diagnosed endometriosis...

Hi everyone,

I was never diagnosed with endometriosis, but I assume it's the cause of my hurrendous period pain I used to suffer with until I chose the option of going on the depo injection to just completely stop my periods. I made this decision after multiple visits to my gp, who suggested a hot bath and a paracetamol after explaining that even tramadol didn't work! When I would initially "come on" the pain would last only a couple of hours, bleeding wasn't overly bad and for the rest of the period was just mild aching. My main concern was those first two hours. Once I fainted and every time I vomited and my whole body was unable to function and I was bed bound. After these two hours I was absolutely right as rain! I'm wondering if anyone can relate to this as I've put it on the back burner for the last 4 years since I've been on contraception that has stopped my periods. My fear is that when I have just ignored a condition that may have effected my fertility and I'm considering starting a family. Is it possible to investigate for endometriosis despite not having the symptoms currently? Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks in advance,

Kat X

i would say that if endo is/was there, it most likely can still be found, but its unlikely they'll investigate if its not causing you problems at the moment, well thats how it would be in my area anyway.

my endo wasn't diagnosed until three years ago when i was 41, i was diagnosed with stage 4, with so much endo to remove that they didn't even bother during my lap, and said they would remove it when i have a hysterectomy as i may need bowel surgery too, due to where everything is stuck together. one thing always stuck with me though, was the nurse when i woke up, she said thank goodness i had my children very young, had i waited to my 30's or 40's, then i probably wouldn't have children, i don't know how true that is, all i can say is that i caught for my first at 19, and then tried for years for my second, there is almost 7 years between them.

endo has no consistency with its symptoms, some have it and don't feel it, some have hardly any present but have extreme pain, there seems no hard and fast rules, so maybe have a chat about it with your gp xx

Thank you very much for your reply.

I think I'll make an appointment with my gp and discuss it. Thanks again X
