Fluid in pouch of Douglas...

I had an ultra sound a few weeks back and the doctor told me there was nothing wrong with it. However i went to see another doctor (the one who is now sending me to see if i do have endometriosis) and they said I have fluid in the pouch of Douglas and also an ovarian cyst... could someone help explain to me what this is and is it curable? also would this be due to possibly having endo?

Yes, both the fluid and the cyst could be due to endo. The fluid and the cyst could be removed during a keyhole surgery (a laparoscopy) if necessary. Did the doctor say if your cyst looks like an endometrioma X

Will they do that during the diagnostic lap? Or will I have to have another surgery? No they didn't say... Thank you for your help

I had cysts and fluid removed during my diagnostic lap. It turned into a four hour surgery but was well worth it to feel so much better afterwards X

Ah ok! Hope your surgery went well! Thank you for help!x

The thing I would say is to ensure you have some treatment to stop it reoccurring. Cerazette didn't agree with me and I didn't like the thought of Mirena insertion after painful internal exams so mine has reoccurred and I need another lap now. Mirena will be fitted at the same time X

Are they sending you to a bsge centre, if not try to get refferal to one for laparoscopy, the surgeons at these clinic s are much more experienced at 1 locating the endo and 2 removing it, good luck xx

They said they would send me wherever I want to go... I was thinking of going private (if my private health care covers it) but if not I will ask to be sent to a bsge centre. Thank you for your help :) xx

Regardless of private or nhs it should still be a bsge centre, general gynes have not completed the same excision. Training as these surgeons and bear in mind mist private gynes are also nhs but going private will make it quicker, good luck xxx
