I have my pre op for my diagnostic laparoscopy on Thursday at local hospital.
They've said if they find endomitriosis they will burn it off. I am really afraid that this is going to cause more damage.
Have I left it too late to be referred to a bsge Centre to have excision, or do I need to have the diagnostic lapo first and then get referred there? I'm so confused. Would really appreciate any help, as at the moment I've even been looking at getting a substantial loan to get total excision done privately. I just don't want diathermy messing my insides up more
Thanks in advance.

Hi, try not to panic, you can use your pre-op as an opportunity to ask questions about it. When u sign a consent form for the operation you can discuss what options they have when treating u. I think burning off will cause damage they will refer you for other treatment. Maybe wrote down all your worries before pre-op and then u can make sure your don't miss anything X
Hi it's not too late to get a referral to a BSGE centre. You have the right to choose what happens so you can cancel lap with general gynaecologist if that is what you want to do. Excision surgery comes with less chance of reoccurrence of endo. Whereas with ablation it just burns the top layer off so it's more likely to regrow.
Unfortunately if you decide to go with a BSGE centre your wait for surgery will start again. But in my opinion it would be worth it.
Also Hun you don't need to go private as the surgeons at the centres are nhs
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
You could consent to a diagnostic lap only. Then if you are diagnosed with endo you could ask for a referral to a BSGE centre. X
