Hi all!

There has been a lot of scary, worrying things in the news recently re the risks of Heart disease and endo.....

It can be hard for us non medical people to sometimes see past the headlines, and really understand what the research is telling us. Matthew Rosser who is a (Welsh!) Endo researcher and friend of FTWW, writes an excellent blog, which is a trusted resource for info on endo!

Matthew has done a very informative post about this, which breaks it all down well, and is easy to understand in real terms. His conclusions back up our beliefs at FTWW - "remove the disease not the organs" and the aims of our campaign - to make sure that all women in Wales have access to excision with a specialist, and that high quality research on drug treatments for endo is desperately needed.

"If indeed reduction in estrogen is linked to cardiovascular problems in women, then this form of medical treatment for endo could also be increasing the CHD risk this current study has observed. This paints a big neon sign pointing at the need for

1) more surgeons skilled at complete excision of endometriosis lesions and

2) the need for drugs that target endometriosis specifically and not have a whole body effect."

I urge you all to read it, as hopefully it should put most people's minds at rest!

Another great article about the "real world implications" of this study, also well worth reading - from Dr Sony Singh in Canada.
