19 year old diagnosis :(

I'd been in a significant amount of pain for almost of year. I was misdiagnosed with PID, and then I was told it's just Poly Cystic Ovaries. I then went private as I was fed up with the long NHS waiting times to not get the right answers. So last week I underwent a laparoscopy, and not only did they remove a large cyst from my left ovary, they had to unfuse my uterus from my stomach wall, and they also found endometriosis in a couple of areas. I'm only 19 years old and all of this is extremely daunting to me. I'm having my follow-up appointment next Wednesday, but I'm just kind of trying to find out what to expect? Any advice or replies would be grately appreciated :(

Hi Sophie,

I am 20 and I was diagnosed about 2 1/2 years ago now. I have been on every kind of hormone treatment and every kind of injection. I have a big appointment tomorrow to decide how to go forward. I know it is all so daunting but you just have to remember that luckily nothing more sinister is found. I'm sure you found it all very difficult and no doubt the operation was unpleasant. If you keep a little diary to manage your pain you can sometimes find out what things aggrovate it most. This can sometimes help to discover things and establish things that maybe you haddn't thought of before. If you have anything you want to know about this then please send me a message or an email.

all the best and lots of internet hugs,

Si xx

Thank you so much for this, Si. It's somewhst comforting hearing other people's experiences, especially when they're at a young age also.

Hope your appointment went well.

Hi Sophie

I was diagnosed with endometrisis at 18 and I totally understand what you mean with the changing in diagnosis it took 18 months for me to finally be diagnosed, endometriosis can be a bitch I wont lie to you but it is manageable and you can lead a normal life. I completely understand how daunting it can be so if you need anyone to talk to feel free to message me.

I hope your appointment goes well good luck.
