Heavy periods and alternatives to the coil

Has anyone any suggestions what to use instead of the coil (giving me bad acne) which will stop heavy periods as I have s fibroid and mild endo

Doc has mentioned taking pill 3 months at a time with no break?

I use the depo injection and have done for over a year now. I don't get any periods with it. There's a list of side effects as long as your arm but it seems ok for me.

After years and years of meds and appointments and surgeries.... This is what to expect.

The pill with a nonbreak is unusually the way to start. Just incase you have a bad reaction.

Usually after that they switch to full year pills, no break. And then you can pick your preferred delivery method; pills, patches, injectables and implantables.

If you are responding well (not massive aide effects) but not well enough, then they will do injectables like depo provera or depo-lupron. Same hormones as pills, just different strengths and they tend to work better.

You can skip the pills step if you want, but if you have a bad reaction to the injectable, it can mean surgery to stabilize you untill the injectable is out of your system (I had a friend who had to have surgery to stabilize her).

Where a bad reaction to the pills, you can just stop takeing them and they are out of your system in days, not months, and no surgery.

Implantables :

The Merina is an IUS, plasic, with a 5 year medication slow release of the hormones like the injectables.

Some peiple find them great to use, and you might find that easier if you have had a coil as its the most similar alternative that will slow the progression of endo.

Personally, I couldn't stand the Merina.

But thats my body, not yours, and all these medications have their own upsides and downsides. Plus if you had a coil, a merina shouldn't cause you the constant cramping I got from the Merina. But if it does not, insist your doctor take it out.

The injection could be another good option. Ask to speak with a family planning expert. From personal experience I've found them to be more helpful than a lot of doctors and more knowledgeable about endometriosis.

One thing I would definitely advise against is the implant! I had 9 months of hell with it, non-stop bleeding. The family planning lady I saw told me the doctor should never have suggested I have it as it is the worst thing for endo.
