Lap follow up, really confused...

So I had my follow up and they said 'mild' endometriosis was present in POD with bowel adhesions. They said they didn't think the bowel adhesions were endo related though which I assumed they were?! I've not had any type of pelvic infection etc to my knowledge so I'm confused what else could cause it. Also as they said its 'mild' Endo I feel like a bit of a wimp having so much pain. Surely if its mild it shouldn't bother me that much? I've been recommended to have the Endo removed and they can cut the bowel adhesions at the same time but they're already talking about pain management and I couldn't help feeling that they didn't expect the surgery to help. I also had the coil taken out today because they said although it could still settle down the symptoms i'm having look like i'm really not getting on with it and given my intolerance before to progesterone its probably not worth persevering if I'm hating it this much. I'm glad its progressing with me being referred to surgery but I cant help feeling a bit negative with the feeling they don't expect the surgery to help. Sorry, I'm not sure the point of this post but just needed to talk to someone.

Xx

I had a lap a couple of years ago where all they found were some adhesions to my bowel which were removed. I had been in awful pain popping Tramadol like I don't know what. When I walked out of hospital after the lap I was in the least amount of pain I could remember for months, I went on to be pain free completely for over 18 months. The consultant said there was no sign of endo and that the adhesions could have been caused by an injury, a burst ovarian cyst spilling into the cavity or just be there.

A gynae I saw this year said that "a healthy pelvis does not grow adhesions you must have endometriosis". I have a lap booked at an Endo Centre next month so we shall see what they find. They think this time that my pain is most likely to stem from pelvic congestion but they are not ruling out endo and adhesions. I'll try and remember to pop back to this thread and let you know.

If you have POD Endo you should be seen at an endo centre. Click on the poaster called Lindle and she has loads of info on where the centres are and how to get referred. I followed her advice and am very happy with the centre I am at even though it may not be endo I know the Dr is a specialist at laps and all the staff are really nice.

I agree with mind storm, if you have endo in pod, even if minimal it us considered complex and on the nhs contract, you should be seen and operated on in a bsge endo specialist centre,

I wish you every luck

Thanks both, that makes me feel better. Luckily my local hospital is a bsge centre. The doctor I saw today said only one of the endo specialists will do my surgery so I know I'll be in good hands. I know the doctors have to manage expectations but I guess finding I'm intolerant to a number of hormones made me feel I'm running it of options so if this surgery doesn't help I'm not sure what to do next. Fingers crossed I get my op date through soon. Xx
