Hello everyone I am looking for some advise about the coil I've been put off for a while as I have never been great with birth controls as I have quite unbalanced hormones and side effects etc I know it's the best thing for endo if anyone has it and could tell me more if you have any side effects and if it has helped your endo

Thankyou :)

Hi I have the Mirena coil and tbh was really against it as I wanted another baby. However my specialist was all for it. I had stage 4 and adeno (apparently) I had an ovary and Fallopian tube removed but was left with patches of endo (ovary and between my womb and bowel). At first I did have regular migraines but these have settled down and only occur during my period (which has practically stopped but get migraine/bad head, smearing and pmt). At this point I have to say I have always been a headache sufferer. I had it inserted 2yrs ago and at my last scan my specialist signed me off for a year (instead of 6months) as he was happy the endo (on ovary) had not grown in fact he felt it may have shrunk.

My specialist has been adamant throughout that the merima is the best treatment option with the least scary side effects.

I had the mirena and unfortunately it Mae me terribly nauseous - I'm really sensitive to hormones too

I would strongly disagree that the mirena is the best treatment for endo - that's what lots of doctors say, but the stories I read on end forums suggest otherwise.

Personally I put it off for nearly ten years as I didn't trust it, but eventually it was the only option left. It was horrendous - months of daily contractions for a few hours every day, as well as other pain and bleeding, and no improvement in my other symptoms. It took me a year to get it out, since the gynae cut the strings too short and in the end I had to have a general to remove it.

Some women swear by it, I have adeno as well as it's said to be good for that but for me it was hell. If you have it fitted, make sure the doctor will agree to remove it ASAP if you're having problems.
