dealing with endometriosis

hi, im new to this

I was diagnosed with endometriosis at the age of 19. I had my first laparoscopy done back in December last year when I was 20. everything was fine and then it all started again in a few months. I now have depression, anxiety issues and without a doubt pain every day and night. it is a struggle to go to work (im a hgv mechanic) and I was wondering if there is anything I could do that might help me? or if anyone has any advice. I feel like im too young to be making any harsh decisions about if I want children in the future.

Hi, welcome, and I'm sorry to hear that you have so much going on and things are a struggle.

I think a great start for you would be to buy this new book on endo, it's amazing really easy to understand, has everything you need to know about endo all the latest info in it, and it's quite funny too - bonus! Unfortunately not all Doctors are knowledgeable and up to date on endo, which makes it difficult at times for us as patients. Are you in the UK? If so I would suggest that you ask to be referred by your GP to one of the BSGE specialist endo centres, depending on which part of the UK you are in the rules can be different, but if you are in England it's very straightforward. bsge.org.uk/ec-BSGE-accredi.... You don't need to be making any harsh decisions, the most effective treatment for endo is excision - which just means cutting out all the areas of endo, this leaves everything else intact and can actually help with fertility as well as give you long term pain relief too.

What treatments are you using now, and what have you tried in the past?

Have you discussed your depression and anxiety with your GP? If not please go and have a chat with them, they will be able to help and support you, dealing with daily pain and illness can take it's toll on us. Take Care!
