Still in pain after hysterectomy for endometriosis

I was wondering if anyone could advise me. I had an abdominal hysterectomy with removal of ovaries and cervix in April 2015. I've had endometriosis since I was 21. I am now 37. I was off work and in constant pain for 18 months prior to my hysterectomy. I have recovered well and I'm established on hrt with very little menopausal symptoms. However 10 days ago my pain returned. Right hand side where my ovary used to be. Back and hip pain. I'm so sad and fed up. I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone advise?

Hi, I havnt really got any advise, but would like to offer my support, I'm 5 weeks post hysterectomy, so I can imagine what you are going through if your pain is back, the recovery pain and pain from an infection im just getting over, has been so similar to the pains prior, ive also been worried that I will continue with pain, I had adenomyosis and have endometreosis as well

4 months is over the recommended recovery time, but ive heard and read alot about it taking upto 12 months to get back to its now normal, your insides all reposition the selfs to fit well without the uterus, so hopefully it's still recovery pain,

Have you been back to Gp yet..?

good luck and stay strong

Hi, I do feel for you.

I had abdomanol Hystercretomy 4 years ago and I was still in a lot of pain. I thought I was going crazy.

I had Endo burned off inside my bladder last year June, but was still in agony.

I went to see a private surgeon and he found that I had Endo sitting on top of my bladder as well as being imbedded in my bladder, on my ovaries and bowels. I had another operation last year November and every Endo and adhesions were removed.

I'm still recovering and from time to time I get little pains which lasts a few hours but nothing like before. I'm on a glutenfree, DairyFree, soyafree diet which is helping me, I'm also limiting my red meat.

You need to listen to your body, if you feel something is wrong tell the doc, don't let them make you feel as if it's all in your head, like the docs were telling me.

Ask for a 3d scan of your pelvic area. I'm only guessing, but if you're still in pain then the surgeon must have missed Endo somewhere while performing hystercretomy.

Good luck with everything.

I'm here if you want to chat.

Sweety.
