I was dismissed from my job a month ago due to taking 35 days off. From 2013 til July 2015. I have never been dismissed from a job before.
Every time I have my period the curse begins. I get sick, heavy bleeding and pain wherever I can't even walk. My boss new of my condition but they still employeed me.
I was told that I am making the company lise money. It is not on people I work with. I will be 38 next month and still have on going treatment. We are planning for Ivf. So I will hopefully be fixed in a year or so. But this pain is out of this world.
I do consider us all to be strong women. Who are incredible.

That's drastic to dismiss you from work,you could have taken an option to work part time or resign with a good reference.
It's not your fault really as that pain is something else.Ild suggest you put yourself on daily paracetamol but nothing stronger till you are absolute sure what is going on.
If you treat the condition first you might not even need IVF...

I have the same problem as you I am currently working full time and i get such bad pains that make me feel awful as you know, sometimes i run the office on my own so I have to sit at work in agony.
I feel bad whenever I want to take a day off because im in so much pain, the upsetting thing is we cant go on sick with this horrible disease as when i was assessed because i can lift my arm and leg im capable to work, idiots some people id like to see them suffer with the pain and get on with a normal daily life, Hugs to you stay strong xxxx
I'm so sorry you lost your job. That is really hortible. I don't think 35 days sounds that many in a 2 year period! You could seek legal advice from.an employment lawyer/solicitor to see if that is legal as I'm sure there are interim remedial steps they should take before firing you.
Are you in the UK?
What treatments for endometriosis have you tried? Have you had excision surgery?
Do you know if they removed it by cutting it away (excision) or by layering it away? Do you know if surgeon was an endometriosis specialist or a general gynaecologist?
It sounds as if they missed some if the pain never went away post surgery.
I'm not sure if you are aware or not but if you have contents insurance on your house and ticked the box for legal cover you will be able to get free legal help and advice through your insurance company. This wont cause your premiums to go up as house insurance doesn't work in the same way as car insurance.
It's also a good idea to refer back to your contract and check that they followed their own procedures when it came down to dismissing you. if they missed even a tiny part you have grounds for complaint. The Employment tribunal don't like companies that don't adhere to their own policies and procedures.
Thank you. They didn't even try to understand my condition. They didn't follow any procedures. They even gave me a new contract to sign a week before. They said I could not appeal as the time was 1 year and 11 months. I did not get to see the company doctor. It was like a dream. Never been sacked b4. Even if I don't get help. I wouldn't want this for anyone.
Have you spoken to Acas at all? they are there to provide guidance to both employers and employees when it comes to employment law.
They were the first people I called when I was at work and received my P45, through the post, at the office, saying I had finished working for them 2 weeks earlier. My boss was nowhere to be found!

I no how u feel. I am currently on my period and thankfully have a day off today but am dreading tomorrow and Friday as I bleed so heavy ( go threw 8 pads every 30 mins) I suffer from immense pain all the time even when I'm not on my period. I work in care and only had the job for 2 months. Took 5 days off already due to this stupid disease.
Me and my husband are starting IVF a swell. Doing all the tests atm.

Terrible story Natasha. I feel so sorry for you.I'm lucky that my boss is understanding and generally I can muddle through. I know that at times like these you want to say stuff them and forget all about it but you may even be owed compensation for wrongful termination.You'll also want a reference.The advice above seems great and a phone call can't harm. As a positive least you no longer have to deal with a firm like that!Good luck and be sure to update if you decide to take them on!x
REALLY SORRY. I can imagine how it feels. Happened to me as well. At that time I had not been diagnosed yet. Very true what the Natasha says, they assess you and as long as U can lift leg and arms, U are fine. Reason why one ends up depressed trying to cope with it all. Try to seek legal help.
Did you have a union rep? I've had 27 days off in a 2 year perios and am also going through threat of dismissal at the moment - my line manager and HR hadn't followed any of the procedures in the sickness policy. Things are at a slight hiatus at the moment whilst they "review my medical records"... but if they try to dismiss the union is on their case due to the failure to provide any support or put any measures in place. It's terrible because this kind of stress only exacerbates the symptoms further. I will probably need an op and as I also have a large cyst which needs removing my surgeon has told me to expect at least a 6 week recovery time due to the surgery being abdominal (the cyst is too big to be removed via laparoscopy). I told my surgeon that my employers have been threatening to dismiss me due to sickness absence and he said that he would write a very strongly worded letter to them to say the op is essential and that it would be unlawful of them to penalise me for it. My GP also confirmed that my condition would be classed as a disability and that they need to comply to the Equality Act 2010.
The tip about house insurance is a good one - I will check this incase it ends up going to tribunal.
I'm sorry about your dismissal Natasha and hope you can get some compensation or a resolution. I think they have been completely out of order.
it sounds like that organisation have acted unlawfully and you probably a case for grievance (if you have the energy or financial resourses to pursue it). I can understand if you just want to walk away from them given how badly they have treated you - you don't need anymore hassle on top of what you are physically going through. It's not right that they should get away with it though.
Anyway - good luck with the interview next week and hopefully they will be a lot more considerate xx
