Devastated after Gyn appointment...

Went to see my gyn today after having endo symptoms return coming off my pill...

He did a physical exam and said my uterus has not retroverted and he thinks endo could be the cause and has referred me for a Lap.(uterus wasn't retroverted 2 years ago when I saw him last about the problems I'm having).

I have SEVERE back pain before my periods, pain when my bladder is full and sharp stabbing pains in my rectum when I'm on my period. My periods are so painful and the length of my period is all over th place 2 days sometimes 8!!

Recently experiencing pain with deep sex which prompted me to go back to the doc.

Since leaving the consultation room I haven't stopped crying..

The most important thing to me is to have a family and I'm so worried that this might be snatched away fr me!!

Has anyone else had the same symptoms and retroverted uterus and got pregnant without inteference?

Just need some positivity right now :( :( :(

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

He didn't mention a specialist clinic and said my lap would be done to diagnose the endometriosis and he said if there were patches they would be cauterised.

Is this retrovaginal endometriosis serious?!

I'm only 22 and this is all just so overwhelming :'(

Thanks

Hi there. I also have a retroverted uterus due to having endo in the pouch of Douglas- between the uterus and the rectum and bowels - making that area stick together. I always had shooting pains up my bum when having my period. I also experience some pain having deep sex, so it all sounds very similar. When I had my lap, my consultant said there was no reason as to why I couldn't fall pregnant naturally as my tubes and ovaries were unaffected by endo. It took a couple of years of trying (my husband's sperm count isn't the best either!), but we now have a beautiful baby boy, and it all happened naturally. Try not to stress about it too much. There's much they can do these days by way of assisted conception if you were to need it anyway. They also know far more these days about endo and there are specialist centres out there that you can be referred to if needed. I saw a normal gynaecologist but he seemed to know a lot about endo and was so helpful. Just make sure you get the help you need and demand further referrals if you're not happy. Xxx

Thanks so much! Your comment has really made me feel better!!

I am hoping that my age will be on my side and I just can't wait to have my laparoscopy to find out the extent on my endo.

My Boyf of 5 years has said we can deffo TTC after my surgery as I have read the surgery can improve fertility if they are able to cauterise the endo.

Just so much to take in and i think Google being at my finger tips is making the whole thing worse as there are horror stories etc!!

In the meantime I have started my pill again until I get my surgery.

Xxxxx

Glad you feel a little better. It's all a bit overwhelming at first I remember! Your age is definitely on your side. I was 38 having my boy! Don't feel pressured into having a baby straight after your surgery if you're not totally ready though. If you stop your periods after your op it'll stop the endo growing any further anyway so don't make any rash decisions. I have the depo provera every 3 months for mine now. You're very lucky to have such a supportive partner though! Good luck to you xxx
