Lap done this afternoon - finally know it's endo.

Hi ladies.

I had so much support on here going through my diagnosis including losing my job - that I felt I should do an update.

So I came round to be told there is endo everywhere....bowel, bladder, ovaries, rectum etc. I cried by the time I came round properly. There was too much to even consider operating even though I was told if they find anything they would remove it. He's worried about my bowel and rectum with damage. I'm so scared about my next surgery.

Also can you ask to have your tubes

Tested? I would like to know as soon as possible if I might have problems having kids.

Not sure how to take all this. I expected a small amount as maximum not this....

Faye xx

Hey yes u can ask to have the dye put through ur tubes. The day of my lap a couple of weeks ago the consultant stuck his head round and said he was doing the dye as well to which I agreed so say at it review about it.

had my lap done yesterday didn't expect my consultant to say i had severe endometriosis either and that ill have to have more invasive surgery done as my bowel and uterus are fused together. He said i won't have problems having babies in the future but everything i read is seriously freaking me out about infertility and in all honesty i'm completely beside myself and feel guilty on my partner!

It's a horrible feeling isn't it. But if the doc says it's ok and no endo damaging your reproductive parts then I wouldn't put yourself through thinking otherwise...I know it's so easy to say but I really hope you can think positively about that bit. Wish you all the best and a speedy recovery x

I know how you feel, I have not had a lap yet but I had an MRI and already shows severe endo in both ovaries, bowel and uterus fused and possibly one of my fallopian tubes. After I was told I just started to cry as I was not expecting it to be as bad.

You can definitely ask for your tubes to be tested , I am having mine tested during my lap in November. I am trying not to worry too much about my fertility as there is not much I can do until they go in and I have the full picture and I know what the next step should be. But I know is difficult not to think about it xxx

So sorry to hear you guys are going through it at the moment, I am having my lap in a week and a half and was wondering if you could tell me. Is your endo pain usually when it is your period or all the time? Also did you get told you had IBS because you get pain you feel is in your stomach? I would like to compare symptoms. I hope that your dr manages to remove all the endo when they next operate and I wish you a quick recovery from this diagnostic lap. Big hugs. x

Hi londonlady,

My pain is all the time. I have suffered in the past with horrendous periods but my pill had been helping with that for awhile. It's the breaks from the pill in the last 3 years that have let the endo grow etc. my worst pains that are all the time but worse during ovulation and period is my back pain, pain after bowel moment and during and all pain in my urethra area during full bladder, mornings and drinking alcohol and pelvic pains after intercourse. I also had blood in my pee a few times. The first time I got taken seriously was being taken to hospital after passing out after a bowel movement and I was having irregular bleeding.

What are your symptoms? If you would like to talk about anything at all feel free to message me xx

Oh and the doc did think I had ibs because of pains and loose bowel movements but now we know it's because I have endo there. X

Thank you so much for the reply. Yes I am worried about how much endo they will find in the lap next week. My mother was offered a hysterectomy and my grandmother had a hysterectomy due to extreme heavy and painful periods. My consultant said they probably had endo but back then they couldn't diagnose it. I have been told years ago that I have IBS because of pain that comes quite regular, it is unbearable. I have strong painkillers. I have large clots when on my period and strong pains down my legs, pelvis and back. I also now have pain during sex which I never had before. I think that is why they finally said after all these years...lets do a lap. I had a scan that showed 2 haemorrhaged cysts on right side and one burst cyst on left side.

A month ago the pain was so bad my mum called an ambulance, I was rolling on the floor and was vomitting from the pain and had hot and cold flushes. Dr said that might have been cyst bursting?! What do I know. Apparently the cysts were small only 2.5cm but he said the burst one can cause pain and the bleeding ones can be sign of endo. It has been near on 17 years since I was diagnosed with IBS- or apparent IBS.... I am worried that if it is endo it too will be very advanced. But I am grateful to know I am not alone and at least they can do something about it. I just have to stop thinking about it and wait and see what the lap reveals. Be ready for anything I suppose. I wish you a quick recovery. Tell me, did you have cysts? Again big hugs and thanks for your reply. x

I also have large clots during period, and always seem to be dark/black blood for most of it.

Yes it all sounds like endo, and the doc is prob right about the burst cyst. I don't have cysts now but I did have a couple when I was 17, and none that I know of since. I guess I've been lucky that The contraceptive pills I have been on have helped with somethings. It would have even a lot worse without. Are you on any contraceptive at the mo? You could always consider the Mirena coil? Know a lot of women on here have had success with it.

I hope your lap goes well. Please give us an update on there findings. Try not to worry too much now. Sometimes a small amount of endo can cause terrible pain, I hope it's the case for you x
