Elevated white blood cell count

I have had pelvic pain for over a year and it has not been diagnosed. I recently had blood tests done and they were all fine besides my white blood cell count was a little elevated. Does endo cause high white blood cell count?

Yes endo can elevate a WBC, but so too can any infection you're are fighting off.

There is a blood test called a CA125 which can sometimes indicate the likely presence of endo. If the results are above the threshold then likely endo is the cause, but endo doesn't always elevate the CA125.

Hi there

Yes it does. I have had this on mumerous occasions and been kept in hospital due to this too. Its due to endo being inflammatory disease and your body is trying to fight it off apparently. Of course white cells can increase with other infection too etc but I have been there got t shirt haha. Hope things soon settle for you. Take care xx

I have wondered about this also, I get bloods done every few months and my white blood cell count has been high for every test for nearly 10 years. I also have Ulcerative Colitis so they always chalked it down to that disease being active even when I didn't think it was. That and fatigue that didn't always seem to match low iron counts.

Yes, similar to the others in that I've always had a slightly elevated CA125 level being an endo sufferer, so don't think there's anything to worry about there x

Cysyts are also likely to cause a high count xx

CA125 is a blood test for ovarian cancer but my consultant told me that it's not such a reliable marker for that and is fairly reliable for Endo. The levels are much higher for cancer than they are for Endo.

My ca125 level was over double than what they consider 'normal'. I had my lap, had the tissue tested and it all came back normal. But I was diagnosed with stage 4. I think its more of a test to tell if something is going on down there. I wouldn't worry about it too much :)xx

I was really interested to see this post as exactly the same issue happened on my recent blood tests and the thought had occurred to me that endo might be the cause, though the doctor didn't suggest it as a factor. I'll be interested to see what happens when I get the bloods re-run shortly!
