Had a Mirena coil fitted approx 4 hours ago. The cramping in unbearable ! I have taken Tramadol for pain relief but can't take anymore for a good few hours, and I do not tolerate anti-inflammatories. I AM IN AGONY! Can barely move! Is this level of pain really normal?

Sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. I had a mirena fitted 4 weeks ago and yes for the afternoon after the fitting I was in extreme pain with cramping and more generalised pain over the left side of my pelvis for some reason. I still had slight pain the following morning but this did wear off as the day went on. I hope that your pain settles down soon, a hot water bottle might also be of some help.

Just an update - Mirena fell out after 9days, and probably became dislodged much earlier than this! Am hoping this was the cause of my pain!
Sorry to hear the mirena fell out what a pain literally. I have had mine in for just over 5 weeks now and apart from the small amount of spotting each day so far so good for me. Are you having another one put in or going to try something else? X
I've ended up having a copper coil fitted for emergency contraception, but I will need to have that changed at some stage since the Mirena was done in irder to help with endo!
