Quick question at the fear of sounding silly! Does anyone else experience really bad pain when they are stressed? Do they feel like it sets it off?? Xx

Hi - my personal experience is that stress really doesn't help endo. I have endo adhered to the bowel and prior to that suffered from IBS anyway - so the two just set each other off and it is worse when I am stressed. Stress also affects the hormones in your body so I'm sure there's some kind of interplay there though it's not something I've actively researched. I'm not doing it at the moment but I'm convinced when I was doing yoga and some relaxation techniques my endo was not as bad. Reflexology is also recommended I think but to be honest that one didn't really work for me - I've also been told acupuncture helps but haven't tried that yet. Be interested what others' views are.

Like I had an argument with my partner last night and ended up screaming in agony and had to take my morphine which is just for emergencies just to calm me down but I'm still in agony today and can feel it building up to be a bad night for me.. But I was fine before we argued? I really would like to try yoga it is so highly recommended for endo! Thankyou xx

Yes definitely, I feel the effect of stress every time. Something to do with the interaction of cortisol and other hormones in the body, although funnily enough, since I have been on a stricter no sugar/dairy diet, one of the things I've noticed is that I am a lot calmer and less likely to get into arguments. Don't really know why this is ???!!!

Think cutting out sugar has helped as I'm sleeping better at night so less likely to be tired and irritable and hence likely to get stressed.

It might be linked to a chemical reaction in the body as others have suggested. Personally, in my case I think it's more to do with getting physically tense and how this affects muscles down there etc. - and how this physical tension then puts strain on adhesions, the implants themselves...

Yes!!! The more stressed I am, the more I tense up. The more I tense up, the more it pulls on my endo spots. And the worst part is, it's automatic so I don't realize I am doing it. And I can't just relax my body to make the pain stop either.
