The fear is worse than the actual op. I was terrified too but the doctors and nurses were wonderful, very kind and understanding. I only had to use painkillers for the day after the op then I was fine. I took it easy for about 5 days (had my mum looking after me and milked the attention). Considering the pain and associated symptoms I had been experiencing for the previous 2 years the lap was a walk in the park.

Yeah the pain is unbelievable and like you said hopefully the lap will be worth it but terrified of any other results though too. We'll got my pre-op on 28/07 so hopefully I'll feel better after then. Thanks N xx

I had one as an emergency in January, I was on a drip so they insisted on measuring all fluids I passed so that was a bit more dignity I lost! The pain I had appeared to be caused by the drain they put in and I only realised when they removed it. I was up and about before too long, I stayed with my parents but unfortunately my daughter had d&v, so what should have been a restful time was mainly spent looking after her! Just take it easy after, if they sign you off work stay off, I don't know what they are planning on doing during yours but you might find you're really tired after. I have another one next month so hopefully that will be better as it is planned this time. Good luck x

Hi, I had a laparoscopy on Wednesday 9th July and was shocked to find out I had endometriosis....they removed a lot of endo deposits while I was under. It's not too bad, just told to rest for 4 weeks and wear those lovely stockings for 4 weeks. You will be fine, the first 24 hours are the worst, good luck x

Thanks ladies I have been through it i'll tell you... 1st they just put me on medication for 6 months that didnt work, 2nd they said I had IBS and put me on more medication for 6 months and a change in diet amd that didnt help, then they put me on mini pill for 6 months and that didnt help and 18 months later am putting my foot down because this pain is unbelieveable to live a normal live with and not know.... they dont throw endrometriosis around and finally got my pre-op appointment on 28/07/2014 to set a date for my laproscopy. What if something goes wrong and they tell me something else is wrong???? This is the second time in my 27 year old life that I am terrified and all i have moaned about for the last 18 months is pain and not well and feel like I am all on my own even though my partner is a massive help but what can anyone say??? Dont know what to listen to because some people have said within 24 hours they are right as rain and some say it took weeks... lets hope its a quicl one because my work are not generous with sick leave and cant risk being more stressed.. Thanks ladies you have been a massive help. Mwah xx

The waiting is the hardest. I think it'll depend on what you have done. I didn't know what to expect really. Someone I know had a lap and nothing done and was totally fine in 24 hours, so I thought I would be. I honestly didn't expect them to find anything, as I have Fibromyalgia, CFS, Epilepsy and High BP, so I put everything down to those. So I was shocked to find out about the Endo and then to find out what they had done. I was told by the Dr that it would take around four weeks for inside to heal. I had it a week ago now, it's still painful, but seems to be getting easier. I found it extremely hard, as I'm a single parent, and not being able to do anything is tough. My mum and dad have been great. The second day I tried to do things and made myself poorly. I think having fibro has made recovering harder, along with the epilepsy.

Hopefully yours will be easier, everyone heals differently. Sending good luck xx

I'll wait with you! I had my pre-op on the 12/6 and I'm still waiting. I too have had any moons arguing and moaning at the GPs to get me to this point. I know exactly where you are coming from, what if it's not endo???? After all the pushing and finding a possible cause where do you go if it's not, it's almost more scarey than it being endo. I think we should just be in the frame of mind that at least the pain from a lap will be temporary and hopefully help us. Big hugs and let me know how it goes.

Ugghh, so many drama queens on this page!! A laparoscopy is a positive thing as it means you are getting treatment! Yes there will be some pain but as is clear from people's differing opinions, pain is very subjective. If you allow yourself the timw to heal without rushing this will benefit you long term (speaking from experience of pushing it and causing damage as wasn't healed). Think positively and don't worry - it is such a routine procedure and will.finally put you on the path to living life more fully. Take care and good luck ☺ xx
