If I cannot have a baby then what is my purpose?

I was born thinking my purpose in life was to be a mother. So I ask....quite simply....if I cannot conceive what is my purpose?

You can still be a mother, I myself think adoption is beautiful. You might not be able to make life, but you will be able to give someone else's life meaning. You can rescue a child in need, you can give them hope.

Thank you and I agree. Adoption is so expensive. Although I would love to help a life in need. I apologize... I'm throwing myself a petty party

Don't! I've thought about things like that aswell, you have to with endometriosis as not being able to have a child is a risk. And we're women, we're programmed for it. But we can adjust ourselves, it is not the end of the world and it's something we realize at some point :).

its hard to say don't think like that , after 10 years and 3ever falled ivf I felt the same , I was told on my second go that at 36 my eggs had expired and I was using my reserve eggs lots of tears 3 time used donor eggs but was just not ment to be .I felt a failure . why me what I ever done , why am I being punished . lots of my friends with endo have had children so don't give up hope.

we have now adopted he has been with us for over a year he has just turned 3 . it was the best thing we could have every done , it made it all worth while this week when he shouted out to me "your the best mum in the world"

how do you think adoption is expensive the only thing we paid for where books and we got money towards travel expenses and a grant to buy nursery stuff . the proses took us about 8 months but it was the best decision we ever made . I have my family now and would not change it for the world .

I dont know what you have tried or going to try but don't give up hope on having a baby we did not till we got to the end of treatment . and we thought long and hard even about using a surrogate. I might suggest you go for concealing to help you talk through how you fell

Someone said to me that you are firstly YOU, the unique person that only you can be, and you are a woman second. You are still womanly, feminine and valuable even if you can't bring a child in to the world. One in five women in their 40s are childless because, like me, they've not met the right partner. But you can live a fulfilling life without children or if you love children (as I do) .. as an auntie and teacher. One of the ladies above suggested adoption which is one option, but I think you can be a mother in so many different ways. There's a lovely verse in the bible which says that "more are the children of the barren woman" and this has certainly been true for me because I've affected more young lives for good by not having my own.

Just because you can't conceive naturally doesn't mean you can't do something else. You could still have an amazing career, meet a wonderful husband & just generally enjoy whatever chances are thrown at you. If you really desperately want to be a mother then maybe adoption? So many unwanted & unloved children are in the care system & you could give one a chance at an amazing life x
