Side effects from pill?

Does anyone feel sick and tired all the time on Cerazette? It's been so bad I've actually done a pregnancy test in case it was morning sickness.

How long have you been on it? I've been on it since 2011 but fortunately I've never had any side effects from it. But I have had times where I've suspected pregnancy for various reasons but never have been pregnant whilst being on it x

Also, did it start since you've been taking it? Tiredness and nausea are quite common with endo x

I've been on it for over 6 months now. I also had very bad breast swelling the first two months but I've been taking oil of evening primrose for that and (thankfully) it's stopped. Yeah I did get tiredness/nausea off and on with endo, but it has been so much worse the past 6 months. I mentioned it to the consultant when I went in April but she pretty much said I'd just need to put up with it or come off it and deal with the pain! I've been discharged from the outpatient clinic at the hospital too as the cerazette is reducing my pain so not sure who to talk to about it!

Hi there,

I've been on Cerazette for three months now and i'm literally counting down the days until i see my consultant (18 days!!) to discuss trying something else. The reason for being put on it was to stop my periods completely and therefore reduce my symptoms. But i have been bleeding every week! Sorry if it's TMI but some days are just 'spotting', which, to be fair, she did say could happen. But most of the other times it's heavy bleedy and i've been in agony. Dont get me wrong, it's not as heavy and erratic and my bleeding was prior to the Cerazette, but ad i can't use tampons (horrendous pain) it's a bit of a pain in the ass having to change my pad so regular. And in a way it's worse than a period as i don't seem to have the warning cramps.. I just start bleeding whenever my stupid body feels like it and after a couple of hours of bleeding, the pain begins and i'm in agony.

I also have extremely tender boobs. I may try the oil of evening primrose though.

Sorry for my long post. Sometimes once i get started i cant stop! Xx

Hi aimee22, I have been getting that too. My bleeding is all over the place. I generally bleed or spot for three-four weeks and then get two weeks off, then it's back again. My GP agreed it's not ideal (haha yeah right) but my consultant just said it might settle down or I could have surgery again (which she said would be pointless because I only had a lap last August). I'm not wanting to go onto a stronger drug at the moment cos my husband and I are planning on starting trying for a family in the next year or so. To be honest I'm counting down the packs until we can just start trying (work issues/moving house is why we're delaying it) because I'm so sick of it - thought I know that's not actually going to solve the problem and I'll probably go back to the crazy heavy periods with fainting/vomiting from the pain. The joys eh?!

I totally agree with you, it's frustrating because there aren't the warning cramps and (again TMI) it's just this constant spotting. I can on occasion use tampons but I don't like using them day in day out for weeks on end. Wearing the pads for weeks has been causing sores and everything. Not very pleasant.

The oil of evening primrose did help me, but apparently it takes about 3 months to work properly. I just get mine from Asda and buy the highest dose possible. Feel for you with the tender boobs issue, mine was so bad it would keep me awake at night because if I moved in my sleep it would be so sore! x

Ah bless you. I don't really know what my other options (drug wise) are yet. I only had my first laparoscopy on Tuesday which diagnosed me as 'severe stage 3'. I don't really know what that means! Just waiting to see my consultant so i can ask all these questions and find out what the plan is. I'm just hoping it wont invole Cerazette as i've really had enough. Maybe there's another pill i can try? The lovely nurse that was looking after me mention a medically induced menopause also?

Me and my partner have discussed having kids and we're the same - thinking in the next year or so. It just fills me with dread that i'll have to come off the pill altogether as i know how bad my periods will get :-(

I'll definitely get the oil and give it a try. Anything for pain free boobs!! Thanks for that. Xx

Oh, hope you're feeling ok after Tuesday. I'm sure there must be other options, someone suggested the Mirena coil to me, so that may work instead of taking pills? Hope your appointment with the consultant goes well! x
