It is indeed a good thing. Some general gynaes wont admit there is be someone better out there who can help you and proceed to treat you within the limits of their experience / surgical skill. It is great that your gynae has actually referred you onwards to someone who has trained more extensively in the specific treatment of endometriosis. There are now specialist centres for endo. The Endo UK website has a list of these centres. Always a good thing to look up the background of the consultant you are seeing to see where their real specialisms/interest is.

I wish you all the best for your next consultation. x x

I'm really impressed with your gynae for doing this. Yes, it is a good thing. Even it turns out you don't have endo it means your gynae has listened to you and has their head screwed on.

Best of luck with the specialist. x

Can I ask where you live? As this would give me some idea as to who they've referred you to. Some "specialists" are actually only in practice and haven't been fully licensed as a specialist, a bit like a gp whereas others actually are specialists and they are perfect.

This site shows the practice specialists

This site shows the already qualified ones

In my experience, I've seen 2 different provisional/aspiring Endo centres and they've told me to see a psychologist and that ots in my head. I recently saw someone on Kent from the accredited Endo centre and they've been perfect. I was given a choice on treatment and even though its a private hospital, you can go on NHS (only licensed NHS for over 18)

Have a look at them and see if you're seeing a proper specialist or one thats practicing.

Good luck,

Leya x
