Hysterectomy and the stodge diet

Just to let everyone know that on Monday I had my abdominal full hysterectomy and apart for a little pain I am feeling great. The stodge was to help with recovery as it allows the build up of fatty tissues you need after the op. Already going home this afternoon so I highly recommend the diet.

Hello maestrogirl-79.

I'm glad everything went well, I've never heard of the 'stodge diet' but I will bear it in mind when my time comes!

How is the pain ? And have you managed to go home today? What did they take out?

I am seeing my consultant at the local hospital, at the end of the month, and I will be asking for a hysterectomy.

Best wishes,

Hi Barbara,

Have you decided not to carry on with the hormone treatment???? I thought you were getting on ok so far......? x

Yes I will carry on with the

Injection. But I definitely want my uterus out at some point !

How are you ?

Oh good, I am glad to hear that all is still going ok for you. It was just the comment you made about seeing your consultant about having a hysterectomy; I thought you meant asap!!! I am not too bad thanks for asking. Had a good day today thank goodness although I was up in the night with the most awful back and tummy pain and was taking painkillers at 2.30 this morning. I have been getting quite a bit of joint pain too so I had a chat with my chemist yesterday about magnesium for Endo (have run out of chocolate and need to get more! LOL ) and calcium for bone health. Under his recommendation I have now started taking Osteocare original tablets (2 a day) they contain calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3, Zinc and supporting nutrients. I am hoping they will help. Will keep you posted! x

Yes I wrote to a consultant who is my gynaecologist at my local hospital , and asked him to discuss the option of a hysterectomy with me. I have an appointment with him at the end of the month. ( I really trust him and the hospital and I have been seeing them since 1991)

I'm very frustrated at the specialist at the provisional Endo centre! (Just wrote a post!)

I was pain free until yesterday, when the familiar right sided pain and severe back pain, reared their ugly head !

Have you had any other side effects other than the bone pain? (Although that's more than enough!)

My memory is getting worse these days. I find I sometimes I can't remember simple phrases or certain words or names which is very frustrating! However that could be the beginning of my 'senior moments' though and not the hormone treatment I was on I suppose....Anyway, I am hoping my back and tummy don't start up again tonight and I hope your pain goes away soon (if only to give you some sleep!). Off to bed with my painkillers and hot water bottle now. x

Sleep well x

Oh Bokkie I am so glad you mentioned this, because I have been driving myself crazy as I too have had a lot of memory loss since having hysterectomy in January! Hope you're feeling better today xx

Hi I started with a laparoscopic hysterectomy but half way through it was discovered that my tubes had stuck to my womb and bowels so it ended up as a abdominal.hysterectomy. I ended up with just one ovary left. So I think it is a total hysterectomy. I am home and the pain isn't to bad as long as a regularly take a paracetamol. I was up and about the following day and feel so much better now than I have for years.
