Adhesions massively on bowel and ovary!!! I'm so scared glad I'm not going insane now and I have real pain. Endo in the pod as well the notes sound like I'm riddled with it any advice welcomed right now. Not due to see a doctor before I leave and have so many question x
Just come out of surgery to be told endo ... - Endometriosis UK
Just come out of surgery to be told endo and adhesions.
The pain is mainly due to the trapped gas - so no.1 priority fart and burp that gas out of you at every available opportunity - forget any dignity the quicker you get rid of the gas the less pain you will be in and everyone coming out of surgery will be doing the same thing and the nursing staff know it.
Peppermint tea can help shift it - but really even without that it should mostly be gone in about 3-4 days provided you NEVER hold back and keep the gas in you because you re timid and shy about farting or burping. Now is not the time for being polite and self conscious. I can't tell you just how much better you feel after that gas is gone - but it is certainly worth it to be rid of it.
Taking an hourly stroll around the ward or at home front door to back door once or twice every hour will help to shift that gas and will help ward off any DVT and keep your circulation and your bowels moving. Yes it will hurt but the consequences of being dormant and doing no activity will hurt even more.
Keep the pain killers topped up for a few days till that gas is gone. ABSOLUTELY NO FIZZY DRINKS or farty foods like beans. It will only make the gas situation and pain worse.
Yes adhesions and Endometriosis do come hand in hand.
Adhesions cause pain and they stick things together. In my case my ovaries are stuck to my uterus and my right bowel is also stuck to my uterus. I also have adhesions and Endo on my uteralsacral ligaments and in my POD.
Adhesions are caused by any trauma to the pelvis, pelvis inflammatory disease, previous surgery and endometriosis. Adhesions are scar tissue.
I completely agree with Impatient about your pain. Please make sure the hospital give you enough pills go home with.
Best wishes,
Barbara x
Thanks for your reply did they do anything about your adheasions or endo?
I've had Endo for 20+ years. I've had lots of surgeries. At the moment I'm trying the mirena in the hope it will relieve my pain and heavy periods.
The problem with surgery is that the more you have the more adhesions grow!
