Hello ladies - my brother sent me a picture of this article today - I will type it out here for you all to read....

"MORE than 2million British women who suffer chronic period pain could finally find relief after scientists made a major break-through in its treatment. With a high percentage of females being diagnosed late or misdiagnosed entirely, endometriosis has baffled doctors for years. However, experts have identified biological signals that may indicate the presence of the crippling condition.

'Endometriosis patients report symptoms of infertility and pain, and beyond that, its just kind of a guessing game. There are a few molecular mechanisms known' said Professor Linda Griffith of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prof Griffith has identified a pattern of immune-system signalling molecules that correlates with certain symptoms of the condition, meaning treatments could be individually tailored to the patients' needs. Endometriosis comes in many forms, but it is widely accepted that it is caused by the womb lining not leaving the body properly during a period. Part of the study, published in the journal Science Transnational Medicine, involved the inflammation driving protein. A drug that inhibits this protein is already being trialed and could hold the key to endometriosis treatment." --- written by Aidan Radnedge - Metro - Thursday Feb 6th 2014 page 17.

There is light at the end of the tunnel ladies! Least there are doctors somewhere in the world that are trying to understand it! Hope this makes you all feel better even if only a teeny bit :)

This is actually bringing tears to my eyes out of relieve, for so long Ive been suffering with infertility and unexplainable unbearable period pains, to the point where I'm being rushed to hospital in an ambulance every 2 - 3 months. Also taking prescription drugs for the pain and being poked and prodded with needles all the time to find out whats wrong....Thank God for scientists!

absolutely agree'd! I will keep an eye on it all but fwilken maybe see if you can contact them? research typically takes over 10 years from targetting to production although they are already doing clinical trials in humans so thats a good sign but depending on the FDA approval after that it can still be a few years off and thats the US medical approval board - then we have to get it approved here in the UK!! this all sounds very pessimistic though so I apologize - I am just overjoyed that SOMETHING is happening to help us all :)

have they not done any investigation at all for you yet? argh this is why this bloomin endo is such a pain its not just just a physical fight its a mental one too!! Dont let them fobb you off at any point - hopefully you will have a decent gyno (there are some out there) but alot just say "I cant see anything on the ultrasound" it must be something else or my best was my gyno did an internal exam *owch* and said that it was in my head because he couldnt see anything - i persisted, had my lap and low and behold I had endo all over both my ovaries.... it happens to most of the women on this site so be strong and fight them - if you want any advice/someone to rant at feel free to use me, happy to help wherever I can!!!
