No idea...it's the big mystery of life. If you find out do let me know. I really have dreadful fatigue issues. I eat well, Only drink water (and lots of it,) I am not unfit, I am only slightly overweight, but after 1 hour of activity I need to sleep for 3 to 4 hours. It's crazy and I really can't advise any cure. I wish there was a solution other than class A drugs !! ..which I don't recommend as a solution to anything but severe pain.

I've found rest is the only thing that helps. I've tried just soldiering on. But when I actually listen to my body and rest wen it dictates then I can get some of my old life back so long as I take it easy.

Also try to stay positive getting stressed or upset makes it worse. Although sometimes a good old cry helps.

Acupuncture I felt stopped me falling into depression and helped with the pain

Sorry I know this isn't what you were looking for but it's the best I've found

My dad suggested keeping a diary and wen I have small victories such as walking the dog one week then walking the dog twice the next week write it down so you can see your progress. I've not used the diary but taking these as victories gives me a boast.

I'm currently stuck in bed with exhaustion, I've had a stressful week in work and it's set me back weeks :'(

It's so annoying walking my dog used to be great for stress.

Oh well.

Unrelenting pain is energy zapping - Fact! I know this all too well. I find pain medication, sleeping tablets and Prozac also can add to the fatigue. Strangely enough, exercise helps. Although initially, I really have to push myself against the fatigue. Once I am out in the fresh air, looking out at a beautiful landscape be it sea or countryside, I feel more invigorated. I too take the dog out with me and usually you meet other people out with their dogs too and chat. Anything that helps distract you from your pain and fatigue really does help. If the pain or exhaustion levels are high, I take a folded up bin liner and sit down for a while, taking in all that mother nature lays in front of me. My Gp suggested that switching pain relief every few hours can help. I know Ibuprofen can cause ulcers, so I only take the odd high dose but otherwise Co Drydamol. It is hard trying to tune your body constantly to keep pain and fatigue at bay and that in inself is very tiring. I find I need to eat high energy foods like pasta and tuna and bananas for potassium and oats and probably not so good, the odd energy drink before I go out to help keep me going. Guava is more natural and many health shops have natural energy drinks. Even if I manage an hour or so out, it helps energy levels and makes me feel I have achieved something positive. I listen to a lot of classic music radio and mindfulness meditation cds can help too. If you google that you will find lots of free mindful meditation downloads. Body scan is one and Jon Kabatt Zinn who kick started mindfulness meditation is amazing to listen to. Sadly there is no magic natural pill but all the above things combined help a fair bit.

Hi , I am new here just recovering from first lap ended up paying to go private after chronic pain and fatigue and NHS said I was just lazy! Now diagnosed with endo and irregular cyst which has been sent for tests. I take sea kelp once a day. My friend who is a homeopath advised taking siberian ginseng for one week and no more as your body can end up relying on it. It just helps kick your endocrine system back on line. I also got stung by a wasp which really helped kick everything back online. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you all so much for your posts and experiences. Whilst I wouldn't wish it on anyone it does help to know I am not alone and it's not just all in my head. I used to do loads of exercise, go running 4 times a week, cope with a busy working week with long hours. But the past couple of months it is all becoming such a struggle, and it's hard to not get down about it when I can't carry on as I used too. I have a dog too, and even though I can't really run like before its so nice to just get out in the fresh air for a bit of a walk. She definitely keeps me sane! Think I just have to accept that if my body is telling me I need to rest, that's what I need to do! X
