have had two laparoscopy's, 1 in 2007 and the other just 6 months ago and now the pain is back worse than ever, I have now been referred back to hospital but now just want rid of everything, would a hysterectomy be best?

It depends what the cause of the pain is.

If you just have endo then a hysterctomy will do nothing for the endo unless the endo is also thoroughly removed at the same time.

If you have adenomyosis (like endo- but in the muscle walls of the uterus) then a hysterectomy could do wonders but there are still a significant number of ladies who remain in pain afterwards and some who are in even more pain than before.

If the pin is caused by adhesions then surgical cutting back of those ay give you temporary relief but they can still regrow again. Each surgery does encourage more to grow later.

If your pains are still maining with yor period cycle so bad period pains and pains when you ovulate but with gaps inbetween when you are almost pain free, then stopping your periods is probably going to improve your quality of life a lot.

Taking birth control pills back to back to avoid having a period is one option

Having a mirena coil installed to stop your periods for up to 5 years is a more long term solution but does take a few months to start working and for some ladies it does not suit them and they have it removed. Personally speaking for me it has been brilliant.

Or there is MEA Microwave Enodmetrial Ablation which cooks the lining of the womb to try and stop your having monthly bleeds.

If you are getting oain because you get frequent cysts then having one of the ovaries removed will halve your chances of problems on one side of you.

If the pains are from specific damaged nerves there are surgical options to cut those nerve pathways so stop them sending pain signals.

There are GnRH drug therapies which are cancer drugs but can be used for endo, to put you in a temporary state of menopause. They can have viscious side effects and you might find relief by taking HRT with them, and personally I wouldn't recommend those as they do not sure you at all, and once they wear off you are back where you started and they can only be taken for 6 months in a life time according to the manufacturers, though some ladies do stay on them for longer it would have to be something you think long and hard about doind as there are health implications for staying on them long term.

Quite a few options to consider and research and then discuss at your gynae appointment.
