Hi also I would like to ask if anyone has browny discharge?

I get it, don't get periods cos I have the coil

It's like stringy blobby brown stuff, sorry to sound gross, I think it's when a cyst bursts?

Hi I get this in between periods but especially before period. I was told it's just old blood clots which is a sign of endo and I don't have cysts. If a cyst burst from what I've read you would be in agony! This was the first symptom I had years ago and gradually got worse along with worse pains which made me think there was definitely something not right and eventually I got refered and had lap to confirm endo. I had all the tests ie smear tests scans which were all clear to answer your other question too!

It is periods..but not fresh blood, just old menstrual lining peeling away and getting caught in the mucus that is in the vagina anyway. Nothing to worry about at all. Perfectly normal for mirena. It can be accompanied by a little light 'bright red 'bleeding. This is called spotting. It is turned brown by rust, and lack of oxygen in it, and the darker it is the longer it was inside you before coming away and passing out of you.

And it is not when a cyst bursts as that would be accompanied by paralytic pains and is literally like an explosion in the tummy. The 2nd most painful experience you can have after kidney stones. You really would know about that !! ...and would not be able to move.

Also cysts explode in to the tummy cavity not in to the uterus. They can spring a leak and drain slowly away, rather than explode, and this causes long term aching pain which can be rather intense too, but not anywhere near on the scale of pain from a sudden burst cyst. I have had two of those and by god it hurts.

Thanks yes that really makes sense, thinking back I did have an excruciating pain a few years ago when I couldn't breath and was doubled up, so I'm thinking that would have been a burst cyst but yes thanks your answer really helped x

Me too & I also have the mirena . But my gynea /surgeon swabbed for infection & said it was caused by yeast infection which the mirena often causes & I am now on anti biotics .

Me three!

I also have the Mirena and I have been told it's old blood as well, (which it actually is, so nothing to worry about), no mention of clots though or infection, it's amazing the difference in what you get told by different Drs!

I think I might have a word with the Dr about infection, just to be on the safe side!

Cheers,x

I have the same symptoms and yes, I also have the mirena coil!

I want to ask, does anyone have pelvic pain and or bowel trouble when they are having the brown bleeding? I also get incredibly hormonal and severe fatigue at the same time and I am very confused as to whether my hormones are causing period like symptoms, or whether I am doing something wrong to cause the whole lot to kick off? It seems to be common after strenuous exercise...

Can anyone help?

Hi, I get this too! I’m on the Mirena due to Endo and I get the exact same fatigue etc, but not every month 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s very frustrating as I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck.

I have had my mirena 7 months. For the first three months had a normal heavy period. Month 4 had 3 days of lightpink spotting then month 5 had a mud like discharge which then turned into a reverse period as I describe it. Started off with brownish bleeding then turned into a heavy period after four days and until yesterday I hadnt had a period or spotting. Yesterday if was a dark brown spotting like a cocoa pop colour then its turned into random dark brownish red bleeding but very light. A little heavy for a panty liner but I only need a light period pad. I know I'm not pregnant because the last 4 months my partner has barely been home with working away and when he is home we have barely had sex because ive had a fungal urinary tract infection and I have also had a kidney infection and asthma in the last 10 weeks so barely any sex at all. Also when we have had sex its been painful because of the yeast infecttion. I think either the mirenas moved up higher or its just my lining shredding

Have you checked the mirena is still in place?
