Been confirmed with Endo. Can anyone give advice and what type of questions to ask my consultant on my follow up appointment?

Hi, its been a week now since having my lap. and being confirmed with Endo. I had a bad reaction to GA on the day of surgery so all the consultant told me was that I had Endo. he had removed it and ovaries and tubes looked healthy. I wasn;t really in a good place to ask questions as I was very well. Since the lap. to i have had internal infection too, but feeling much better now.

I will have a follow up appoint and I'm wondering what I should be asking, as I have read that burning the Endo. away isn't always successful. I'm really new to this condition and still learning about it, i would be grateful for any advice or help. It has taken me over 2 years to get diagnosed and over a year to get an appointment with consultant on NHS, even though I looking back I have suffered since I was about 11 years old with problems. I'm now 31 but never thought it could be Endo. didn't really know much about the condition.

I just dont want to waste my appointment as I know once I leave the system It will take me ages to get back in.

Any help!

I'm recently diagnosed, I have severe endo pretty much everywhere, ovaries are stuck together and stuck to bowel, womb stuck to bowel. I've seen my consultant and I did waste the appointment, I wasn't prepared but he is a 'specialist' in one of the specialist centres, so I had great expectations I suppose. He basically said full hysterectomy with poss bowel op, I've had kids and am 41 and it will be open surgery, he also said put me on hrt if I need, I asked about hrt making endo come back he said that was a myth, so confused, the only consolation I have is I will see him in his monthly endo clinics, so at least I can ask more questions. I have no issues with removal of womb, but I have reservations with removal of my ovaries. So at my next appointment I am going to ask for another lap to remove the endo as they didn't even attempt to remove any at last lap, or I am going to ask for the hyster but for them to leave the ovaries, he'll probably say no but it's worth a try.

Maybe you need to ask for a further follow up appointment in a few months, say you want to be monitored to see how you go, like you say it's better to stay in the system then have to go back to gp and get referred again.

Good luck and take it easy til your completely better xx
