Hello all. My parter suffers really badly every time he gets a bit of any kind. We want to get an allergy test done but don't know where could be the best place to go. Could you kindly recommend a place? We live near London and St Albans. Thanks. Ari

Before you go for allergy test you need to keep a food diary and other activities diary to identify what is causing the reaction.

Is it eyes, nose, body or throat?

If you have private medical cover there are many places, one for example an allergy clinic in Surrey. If it is NHS can go to the same place but a GP referral is necessary for both.

You also need to write down the history of allergy problems. If you Google food allergy or allergy you can get a lot of information.

If you go to your doctors they will refer you for a pin prick test I can take a while to get an appointment so try not to leave it too long and when you do get an appointment try not to take any antihistamines 24/48 hours before hand as it will be harder to do the skin prick test

I went to my doctors as I am allergic to most fruit & vegetables she referred me to the hospital who are going to perform an allergy test it’s a walk in place so no appointment is needed I am not sure how the hospitals work in your area though

My hospital appointment to see an allergy consultant was a referral and by appointment. I am in Berkshire.

I am allergic most veg and fruits uncooked !!!. Fruits and veg has salicylate and I am allergic to this,

"Salicylate allergy. Salicylates are an ingredient in aspirin, and some people can have allergic reactions to aspirin and salicylates. Salicylate allergy symptoms can range from mild reactions, such as hives or a runny nose, to more severe reactions causing breathing problems.25 Oct 2017"

By trial and error and keeping a food diary I worked out what to avoid.

If you can keep a food diary in everything that goes into your mouth.
