Hi. I've known 2 people whose rashes/ hives were a mystery- 1 found out it was caused by a GLUTEN ALLERGY. There is a blood test for that, and , also, a test called an endoscopy by a gastrointestinal Dr. Can help diagnose...... The other person had a rare condition that only a good dermatologist could identify- it was bullous pemphigoid--( an AUTOIMUNE CONDITION.) she had small, itchy pimply type bumps that grew into dime to quarter sized puss- filled circles before drying up and falling off. After lots of attention ( creams, steroids and pills) it cleared and has been gone for 4-5 yrs now.

Good luck and God Bless!

Hi weanne, and all other Urticaria sufferers.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, I have suffered from Chronic Urticaria for

Over 40 plus years. The only answere GP's have is one Anti-Histamines for

The rest of your life and the doc has told me that 90% of his Urticaria patients

Have ED. Anti-Histamines work for low to mild Urticaria which mine was Chronic

So GP put me on Cortizone which has more negative side effects than both of my

Legs put together and I am 6ft 6 ins. DO NOT LET THE DOCTOR PUT YOU ON

CORTIZONE FOR ANY MORE THAN TWO WEEKS MAX. Read its negative side

effects. The only relief I had in the last 40 plus years has been peppermint

Essential oil. It cools the Urticaria and skin and stops the itch. Don't touch

Your eyes or any sensitive parts because it is savage.

After the doctors telling me that I would be on Cortizone for life , Thanks a

Bunch, 45 years later I stopped taking Cortizone because all it does is mask

The symptoms and it destroys your body at the same time. I am 72 years old

And want to see my 80th birthday, but not taking that horrible poison all

This time the doctors told me that there was nothing they could give me for

The inflammation that was as effective as Cortisone or I would have taken

It in a heart beat. My advice is see a good Naturopath as well as a Doctor

That knows about herbs like Stinging Nettle etc. I feel for you all because I

Know what is in front of you,

These are some of the treatments that have been helpful

In the morning: Take.

15mg Levocetirizine

150mg Ranitidine

In the night:

10mg Montelukast

150mg Ranitidine

25mg Hydroxyzine

Omaluzimab

For urticaria that hasn't responded to antihistamines, there are newer medications becoming available, such as omalizumab. Omalizumab is given by injection and is thought to reduce a type of antibody that can play a part in urticaria.

Check out chriskresser.com/ you might have Histamine Intolerance.

Also Immunologists now are using a injectable drug called "Xolair" originally

For chronic asmatics now helpful for urticaria but each injection costs $500.00

Not a cent back from the Government or Medicare or Private Heath Funds?

May you all find some relief. Don't forget to check with your Medical professional

First.

Love.

Hi I had my first experience of Urticaria about 18 months ago, began with feeling itchy on my legs and within 10 minutes the itch had intensified and was spreading over my body, which was becoming covered in large raised bumps, I thought I maybe having an allergic reaction to something and luckily we were near a chemist and my partner quickly got me some antihistamine and slowly the problem went away. This happened again 4 months later, this time I was not as quick to be able to get hold of antihistamine and when the itching got to my feel, the soles of my feet, felt intense burning, instead of itching, it was almost like I had stepped on hot coals. After it happened a third time,my GP sent me for pin prick allergy testing, I already knew I was allergic to latex and have been for many years, I had not had contact with latex, during these hive episodes and also my latex allergy, does not present it that way. Nothing showed on the pin prick test, and I was told that it was Probably idiopathic Urticaria, by the allergy testing nurse, however I have since been told that there can be a link with recurring attacks of Urticaria and the autoimmune system and a lot of patents with this type of urticaria, are later found to have some other kind of autoimmune disease alongside the Urticaria, eg: Lupus for example, does anyone else have the burning sensation on feet? You have had Urticaria for a long time and I would be very greatful for any advice, I have now had about 5 attacks in -8 months and I have no idea when an attack will occur, I carry benedryl with me in case I should have an attack, it's so disconcerting not knowing why this is happening.

Thanks Michelle
