It is non-contagious, symptoms include severe itching which aggravates on exposure to sun/heat. Her skin has become dark, pigmented, thickened, rough and dry. It even bleeds at times due to scratching when it itches. Exposed parts are mostly affected like arms, face, neck and back. Hands and feet are unaffected.

I had the same, due to too much sun exposure. Very uncomfortable when it kicks off and found that a cold flannel soothed it. I really can't remember what it was called but was treated with a very strong cream that I had to put on twice a day for three weeks. It killed all the bad cells that was causing the condition. Not very pleasant as it burnt the bad cells off but left the good skin untouched. I suffered with it on my chest as the skin there is very thin. Not sure if it's what your mum has but it certainly sounds the same. If I can remember the name of the condition I will get back to you. I had to go to the dermatology to be diagnosed and treated. Good luck

Thank you for the prompt response. I just Googled it. It isn't at all similar to what my mum has. Did you see the picture attached to the description I gave? Because I couldn't find the similarity between the images I found on Google about actinic keratosis.

It was more the description I went by as there is many different symptoms s. I had very itchy blotches also sore tags. Has she been to the GP? Mine sent me to dermatology. If your mums had this for so lol she should see a specialist

We have been to many dermatologists. She doesn't have any skin tags. Just pigmentation and severe itching.

Sorry that was meant to say 'me too' NOT America too.. I hope she finds a solution soon. Does she get any relief putting on a cold wet flannel when it flares up. They should after all this time found a diagnosis and treated her.

Cold bath helps her but just for some time.

Has she not seen a doctor yet? Because if she has, the problem should have been identified long ago. To me, it sounds like eczema of some sort. The picture is not very clear, but it somewhat resembles what I have. If you do visit a doctor they should give you a moisturiser, and maybe a steroid cream to put on twice a day for some time. I could suggest a few creams, but I'm not entirely sure of what it is, and if the creams are available in where you live. But a doctor should be able to tell you what is. It also maybe caused by an allergic reaction to maybe a food or material of clothing. But I'm still unsure and wouldn't advise her doing anything on her own unless you definitely know what it is. Hope this helps :)
