At the moment there is no evidence that EDS is responsible for brain lesions, however, that doesn't mean to say that people with EDS won't have brain lesions. There is a saying called Hickham's Dictum: People can have as many diseases as they damn well please!

It is tempting to think that all that is wrong with us must have been caused by the same thing, and there is a well accepted (by academics) bias where people, including clinicians, try to fit all the symptoms into the initial diagnoses.

So people with EDS don't have brain lesions that are caused by EDS, but they can have brain lesions caused by other things. And it is possible that people who have been in accidents that have caused brain trauma (concussion) might have an increased level of damage caused to the brain if their neck is particularly weak.

I hope that makes sense?

I have non specific, small, scattered lesions. My neurologist isn't sure why. I've had them for a long time and they haven't changed in size. He said he wishes he could examine them to tell me but that's obviously not possible.
