Sciatic and Sacroiliac Pain

Does anyone have any helpful hints for Sciatic Nerve and Sacroiliac pain??? I use heat which helps a great deal but isn't always easy to do, like if you happen to be out. Anti-inflammatory meds cause havoc with gastric area. Turmeric and Cayenne is supposed to be good but then I've read they can be problematic for other heath issues I have or may have. I also make creams and use several herbs in one of my creams that are helpful but very ahort lived relief. This is my worst problem area, hip and sacroiliacs. Hmmm any help? Anything to stay away from, stretches that are good. I have muscle spasms so that's a real enemy of mine.

Just came from Meds area of Pain clinic and I had the idea of a Lidocaine Patch but they've said that's used more for topical pain such as shingles.

I am having an MIR soon so maybe that will open some doors.

I hope you are all as well as you can be today!!!

Big Gentle Hugs to you ALL

If you want a complementary treatment - I can recommend wild oregano (oregano vulgarum) oil. Take it as pearls not the oil itself (its very strong). You should be able to buy it online from most reputable UK sellers or in healthfood stores.

It is a powerful antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory. It is also good for gastric problems, and taken long term can help to treat the symptoms of IBS, IBD and is used by Crohn's sufferers. It is non-reactive with other medication but should not be taken at the same time as medication such as bisocodol.

If you are on medication - it is always wise to check with your GP that it is safe to take?

Oh on Lidocaine - my son uses lidocaine gel for severe pain flare ups - but it is, as you say only 'skin deep' however it does give some relief. You should use gloves of course if you use the gel. Tattoo parlours and botox clinics use the gel - you can buy it online. Do not use it too frequently as it can cause nerve damage.

I get this a lot. Heat pads (lots) and ibuprofen are my most helpful treatments. I also have gabapentin for nerve pain, and amitryptiline to help me sleep when I have it. Also, diazepam (old valium) is good for getting muscles which are in spasm and are causing the pain to relax. Even taking all of it together though, it can take days to overcome the worst of it.

Lying on a harder surface than your bed can help too - I move to the sofa.

Sorry was not able to respond yesterday - too much tramadol.
