POTS and pilots

Hi,

I came across something pilots do to counteract g-forces from causing them to black out: to keep the blood from being pulled down into their legs when they’re going into a loop, they tense their core and breath in - the increased abdominal pressure holds blood in the upper body. They also tense their quads and bums to squeeze blood out of their limbs.

It occurred to me this principle would work for POTS; I’ve been trying it and finding it is immediately easing my light headedness on standing - even when I’ve forgotten to do it until I’ve stood and started to feel funny (forget more often than not).

I thought I’d share this for you to try if you suffer from the same :) please do comment if it works for you :)

That is exactly what I do to stop heart palpitations and also to stop dizzyness on standing (never been diagnosed with POTS but have lots of blood pressure and body temp problems) - it works very effectively.

When I was talking to the cardiac nurse prior to my tilt table ordeal she mentioned that a lot of us ( me too) do this without being aware of it! Crazy!
