Vitamin B12

Hiya,

I've not posted for a while, but just wondering how many EDS people have a vitamin B12 deficiency?

I've been put on injections for life now and just wondering if this is a common association, or just something unrelated to add to my list? x

I've no confirmed diagnosis of EDS as yet, waiting to see specialist. I do have pernicious anaemia and b12 injection every 8weeks. Also Hashimoto's. Both are autoimmune and can go hand in glove with other autoimmune diseases.

Im sure others will reply too. X 'M'

From reading about EDS from the angle of hundreds of sufferers, lots have a B12 deficiency, as well as other deficiencies. I believe there is a facebook page dedicated to B12 deficiency.

Good Wishes.

It can be a mistake to assume that everything we have go wrong with us is related to EDS. I have a friend that has Vit B12 injections and is definitely not EDS. Remember Hickam's Dictum: A patient can have as many diseases as they damn well please!

There is a HU forum for PA b12. 'M'

I was also wondering if there was a link. I have not-that-big-a-deal EDS and a bunch of the b12 deficiency symptoms. But I am also vegetarian. And it sure seems like half of all symptoms lists for anything end up looking the same.

This case study of a person with EDS is mentioned as being treated for b12 deficiency: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/labs/pmc/a...

This didn't mention b12 but turned up in the top search results: seizure-journal.com/article...

I'd better stop now!

AHhhh HAH! SOLVED it. OK SO you know how one of the things about EDS is you're not processing the vitamins and minerals necessary to make collagen as well as everyone else? And how one of the main minerals necessary to make collagen is magnesium? WELL. Guess what else you need magnesium for?Methylating B12! biocare.co.uk/news/methylat...
