How do you get over the fact that pain in one place leads to pain in another place?

Pain in my toe led to a bunion operation that has left me with pain in my thumb and wrists and ankle. If I have surgery to correct the tendonitis in any of these places will I get pain elsewhere? If I use forearm crutches will I get elbow or shoulder problems? If I use a wheelchair will I get back or shoulder problems? It's so depressing.

As I understand it surgery is not always a particularly good solution if you have eds... slow healing of tissues etc. If one area is out of action and crutches or other appliances are used can lead to a further injury and so more pain. Have you checked out HMSA web site. Or FB forums..there are people there who have had various surgeries who could give more specific advice.
