Thoughts on Mickle Therapy

Hello, This is my first post reaching out for advice. I hope I'm not asking questions which have already been discusssed.

I have been diagnosed with post viral fatigue after getting a flu-like illness at the beginning on November 2017. I had been on a flight two days before the symptoms started and I was never tested to find out which strain it was.

I am of no doubt after reading your stories that I do have post viral fatigue.

It pains me when people ask if this condition is in the mind, but I've just read about the Mickle theory, which has the hypothesis that this condition it starting in the hypothalmous. I had just started a new job and experienced a huge amount of family stress at the same time as I got the viral infection, which still has not been resolved. When I read about the theory by Dr Mickle that this is a condition is caused by repressed / subconscious emotions it isn't something I can't immediately and readily dismiss. I have a mother who has all the characterists of a narcisstist and she is the one that has dismissed this as being in my mind! I've had to distance myself from the whole dysfunctional family and obviously this is a highly emotional event.

What are people's thoughts on Mickle Therapy?

I can say with confidence this is an immune system malfunction, because I'm now allergic to things I never was before. Is Mickle theory right that the hyperthalmous really can alter the immune system?

I have a very pale/ grey pallor and dark circles around my eyes, which waxes and wanes with the fatigue. On an up I get colour back and then when I'm about to crash the first symptoms that happens ten minutes before the crashing fatigue is the washed out face. Can that really be the result of unconscious emotions in the hyperthalmous creating system malfunctions? I should say for clarity Mickle hypothesis have never been proven, but some people have written testimonies to say Mickle therapy cured them.

Thanks for your thoughts.

iff you have real physical symptoms why would you allow your self to be brainwashed into believing this psychological bs it is only to steal money from desperate people .please look at the phoenix rising site for the most up to date science .and a large and active patient community. M E is not an illness caused by how you think or how you process emotions.

I found the site very sales driven and the testimonies very corny. It's good to hear people's views. ME does put you in a position of desperation. It is a cruel condition. You are damned if you do and damned if you don't. I rest until it drives me insane and then you do something and it knocks you back and causes a flare up in symptoms. It's like being trapped in your own prison. It's truly the worst thing that's ever happened to me and I've faced a lot of tribulations in my time.

Hi Plen.A late reply I know but am not always up to going on tablet. If psychology or similar could cure CFS or pvf they'd be re opening all the old psychy hospitals!!!! I doubt an autoimmune disorders can be cured by anything other than medical intervention but I just wish someone could find out the specific one so that all of us who have had their lives taken away and have been left with a mere existence could be helped and cured. May I suggest you read Sarah myhill book chronic fatigue syndrome mitochondria not hypochondria and see if you can glean any information and help from that. It's a good place to start looking for help that may help you. A lot lot cheaper took I suspect. Good luck with it!!! Karen
