Yes, eGFR can easily fluctuate 12 points in a short period of time, and it can be the result of too many variables to list. It's good news, so enjoy. Shall I assume your doctor put you on Farxiga for diabetes?

Marvin, I know you weren't asking me, but it is my understanding that Farxiga or however you spell it, is now used in CKD cases as well. A quick google search will provide more details for you.

I am well aware of this. That's why I asked if he had diabetes because that's the drug's primary use. Oftentimes, insurance won't cover a drug if it's not prescribed for its primary use. That's why I'm trying to figure out how many folks are being prescribed these SGLT-2 inhibitors who have ckd but not diabetes. I fall into this class.

I AM A TYPE-2 DIAB BUT MY KIDNEY DR. GAVE ME THE FARXIGA FOR MY SINGLE KIDNEY WITH LOW EGFR. IT WAS AUCTUALLY APROVE BY THE FDA IN APRIL FOR KIDNEYS.

Yes they can fluctuate quite quickly, for many different reasons. Earlier this year I had an AKI and my function went down to eGFR25 but within a couple of weeks it rose back up to eGFR34 and then lowered again back to my baseline of eGFR 30. No treatment was required, it was recommended that I had a short course of potassium binders, as I had elevated potassium but my local pharmacies didn’t have it in supply and it also went back to baseline by itself.

In my personal experience my gfr can fluctuate 5-7 points on any given day. I personally have never had that big of a fluctuation but that is just my experience.

I think gfr can fluctuate a lot depending on conditions such as hydration and diet. My creatinine has been as high as 1.50 and as low as 1.10. It hovers around 1.10 for the most part though. With that being said, my gfr has went to the 70’s, high 60’s, 80’s, and mid 90’s.

It seems to hover around the 90’s with the new nkf formula but my most recent lab said 86.
