Hey everyone havent been here in a while really concern and have a really important question to ask u guys . So I when to the E.R yesturday because of abnormal bleeding so they did bloodwork and I wasnt really that concern but the e.r dr came and told me my creatine was 1.5 I instantly became worried but could it be that I was dehydrated because the day before I didnt drink enough water at all because of the pain that I was feeling either that day that I when to the e.r because it was in the morning. Can someone please tell me could it possibly be that I was dehydrated and my creatine elevated fro. 1.2 to 1.5 or is it just that my kidney is failing . Once again in really worried would appreciate it advice and ur opinions .

One again thanks guys ✌

Most people with kidney failure have high creatinine levels, not sure what units they used to measure your creatinine but mine is usually 400 before and 200 after dialysis, with normal being less than 100, in UK

Yes Jennifer, It is possible that being dehydrated skewed your lab result including creatinine. But since you have a transplant, I would recommend you see you doc and repeat the labs. I hope they did not give you ibuprofen for the pain. You know that is bad for your kidneys, right?

Thankz for ur reply and no but I see my dr next month so hopefully when I see him next month it will be better on top of that since I was in pain and worried didnt really drink water the day before going to the e r just 2 bottles so I'm hoping and thinking it was dehydration that cause my lambs to go from 1.2 to 1.5

Ibuprofen is definitely bad for your kidney, but only for long term usage. If you occasionally take some ibuprofen you are not going to have kidney damage. I have just one kidney. Other removed in 2017 due to cancer. All my doctors tell me, taking ibuprofen once in a while for pain reasons will NOT due damage to my kidney. It takes long term, and more frequent consumption to be harmful.

I’m confused. My husband’s nephrologist said specifically to use Tylenol instead of NSAIDs. And the renal educator/dietician

yes, Tylenol is better for you than NSAIDS. But even so, go easy on it. Its not good for the liver. NSAIDS are ibuprofen and Tylenol is acetaminophen. Two different animals.

Sure dehydration can do that. But so can many things. And some labs 1.5 is normal. For example, I have just one kidney. So I am frequently tested by my kidney doctor, my primary care and my oncologist. Each test my results match between my kidney doctor and my primary care (usually 1.4 or 1.5) and they report that 1.5 is HIGH. (of course high is to be expected with one kidney at my age (70). I go to the oncologist and always get 1.5 (never 1.4 or lower) and that is always reported as normal. Instead of worrying yourself (which we all do), get another test. The one from the hospital could be off for many reasons.
