Hi

Could anyone tell me if you can have night sweats with gfr of 30.

I have had continuous sweats for months, changing bed etc.

I'm on a antidepressant called Sertraline, this is also an option.

GP is clueless. I'm desperate so any feedback I would be grateful.

Thanks Dawn ❤

Hi Honeycombe1 and thank you for your post. This sounds really uncomfortable for you. Sertraline can cause excessive sweating at night. Please also see Patient Information Leaflet for more information. You would need to discuss this with your doctor.

You may find the following website helpful--

Chronic Kidney Disease-Diagnosis-NHS

nhs.uk>HealthAtoZ>Chronic Kidney Disease

Also, have you been referred to a renal consultant? Your GP would be able to make a referral. Are any other forum members able to help Honeycombe1, please?

Thank you and best wishes.

I’m 74 and been on or around 30 GFR for some years now.The only real problem I have is having to get up during the middle of the night for the ablutions.

I do sometimes have muscle spasms has well but that’s about it.

I know others who are similar to myself but I don’t think any have sweats.

It must be your medication, has nurse suggested I would go and see your doc for guidance.

Thank you for replying.

I didn't think it was related to GFR.

But,I discussed Sertraline with my GP

and was told that it did not cause night sweats!

So, they will definitely be going.....

I hope that you continue to keep well.

Thanks. Dawn

I've had this gut feeling that the sweating was the cause of the Sertraline.

Unfortunately my GP said it wasn't!

I have mentioned this for 6 months.

I've been seeing a Nephroligist for about 3 years...

I have very high BP. Many tablets.

My GP now thinks I am resistant to the medication.

Seeing Nephroligist next week.

Thank you for replying and for your advice.

Dawn

I've had OCD for 80 + years and am happy with it . I control it, not it control me. The more pharmaceuticals you take, the more problems you are opting for. While driving, I have Mozart playing, softly. Vivaldi is good too. The 60 beat (Baroque classical) music balances both sides of the brain to help with neural imbalance. Mozart helped me with college exams and I stayed with it. I have added sodium bicarbonate (in tablet form) to keep my ph balanced and it seems to have helped with the sweats. My GFR is 21.

Hi. go to google. Type "sertraline night sweats". There are so many websites that discuss this as a common side effect of the drug. Print them out and take them to your doctor to help educate him.

Thank you Rick.

I have read so much info on Sertraline. There is a forum called net mums, which also opened my eyes!

I have took it on myself to cut down the dosage, slowly. I have read up on how it works, how long it might take and the side effects.

I have had very little sleep for months and the nightly routine of changing the bed and showering and wanting to kill my husband!! Enough now.

I know I should see my GP again. But she just made me feel inadequate, stupid

and I didn't know what I was talking about.

I do.

But I also will be careful, incase of anxiety overload.

Seeing Nephroligist next week. See what blood tests reveal.

Thanks again Dawn.

I go through periods of night sweats. I think if my potassium level is high it happens. Maybe I have a build up of same with too many tomatoes etc which I love and other foods high in same along with maybe an occasional glass of red wine

I love tomatoes, I’ll cut back for a few weeks and see.

It’s worth a try.

Thanks .

Dawn.
